Modifying Bogger Blogs Easy!
I use wp blogs, yahoo, msn spaces, and blogger blogs. I mostly use wp and blogger. I find blogger blogs the easiest to modify and even create custom templates for! I am far from a programmer or coding expert. I'm more of a copy and paste kind of guy, which is all you need to do to make your own blogger template. They are just too easy to resist. Everything is on one file clearly mapped out. All you have to do is find a existing working template that comes close to the lay out you want. Download it and open it up in dreamweaver. Now create your own page the way you want it to look. Pretend you are making a regular web page. Once you are done with the page, look at the blogger template you have open. Copy and paste the main tags in the appropriate spots on your template. Don't forget to use the full url to where your images will be served from, and upload them before you check your work. Now in the source window, copy and paste your template in your blogger account. You can preview it from there before you save it. Make any additional changes you need, fix what ever you did wrong amd when your done save your new template and reset your whole blog, thats it! I some times reverse the process and use the blogger template I downloaded and make my changes to that. Depends, some times one way is easier for me then the other. I'm constantly searching for new templates to get new ideas for. You can also remove that pesky blogger header by adding this simple line right after where the <style> tag appears first,
#b-navbar{ margin-top: -500px;}
Google may not like this but as long as you have a live link back to blogger.com, you should be ok. I know this because I ran across some one who had made blogger templates that look just like Google Search Page, and Yahoo Search Page, and they have removed the blogger header on all their blogs. Google is aware of it because Yahoo complained to Google about the My Yahoo! blogger template, so it had to be removed by Google. Google did not remove any of the other sites where their blogger header was removed.
The nice thing about blogger blogs is they are so easy to work with. You can easily change them to look any way you want with a little practice. You can even make them look like a regular web page if you want! Remove the blogger header and it would be difficult to tell you were on a blogger blog. Host it on your server and it becomes almost impossible to tell!
Another nice thing about blogger blogs is Yahoo is addicted to them! They simply can not resist indexing them and getting them out on serps quickly! You will see your Google blog on yahoo before you see it on google! Blogger blogs also seem to gain PR faster then my other blogs with equal amount of work on my part.
I'm sorry I can not show you one of my new bloggers just yet as they are all adult related. As soon as I modify one of my non adult blogs I will. I will also be writing a more in depth article about modifying blogger blogs very soon on my page.
Wordpress is a little more challenging for me because there are so many files involved. Takes a lot longer! Only one file with blogger and pretty easy to work with! Figured some one may find this interesting and start experimenting for themselves. I'd appreciate any additional tips or tricks on blogger blogs too!
Have Fun!
I modified one of my non-adult blogger blogs so you can see the possibilites. I did it rather quickly but at least it should show you that with a little more work you can make a blogger look any way you want.
