Sandwich board on Market Street.

Tattoo on your forehead.

Buy beer at the pub and make a toast inviting them to the site.

Make your kids wear T-shirts printed with your URL.

Ask your mum to call all of her friends.

Well, for one thing, you could link to your blog when you post in forums. You could read other blogs on similar topics and make comments (which can lead folks back to you).

- Or you can create quality and unique content that people will want to link to naturally.
- There are many blog directories but I have yet to determine if there is any benefit from this.
- RSS feeds for all of your posts, pages, etc. Get people to sign up and subscribe to your posts.
- Add a widget for people to share your content with social bookmarking outlets.
- Create a monthly newsletter and highlight some of your more popular blog entries.
- Comment on other blogs with useful information, not just promotional blurbs for your own site.

Basically use the same techniques that you would use to promote your website.

Put up quality content

Post your blog on DIGG, Delicious, Reddit, Fark, Propellor and other social bookmarking sites

If your blog has images, submit them to photo sharing sites like flickr, photobucket etc

Join MyBlogLog and network with other bloggers.

Visit related blogs and communicate with the blog owners.

You can also do something called a Blog Carnival [host a carnival pertaining to a particular topic/event etc and invite other bloggers to contribute content] In turn they will promote your blog on theirs

It seems to me that posting one of my blog's post to Digg, especially DIGG is a lot difficult now due to title naming and duplicate content.
