I have about 1300 people who get a newsletter every day. The sign-up information on my website tells them that it is sent daily. They also know that there will be between four and ten items in the newsletter.
I use the email service at Feedburner to send it out. Any day that I post on my blog the email message goes out to all subscribers the following morning. The email contains the contents of my RSS feed. The message shows the title of my post and the first twenty words of the post. If they click on the title it takes them to the post page on my site.
There are also a lot of people - I don't know how many, who access my feed on a variety of feedreaders.
