How many blog/forum comments a day?

Hi guys! I know this is an odd question, but ideally, if you're doing backlinks and are targeting blogs and forums, how many posts or comments would you do in a day? If I do about 20 posts for blogs and forums per day wouldn't that look a bit irritating or spammy even?

Also, does posting comments on blogs and forums really help in getting backlinks for your site? Thanks a bunch!

I think it does help, but I would limit it to maybe 2-3 a day, otherwise it would appear to be pretty spammy. I think getting any more than 5 or so linkbacks a day could hurt you in the long run, i may be wrong though, but this is what I personally keep it at

We do none of these (at least none with a link)... your time would be better spent writing a couple of articles per day for your website using the same amount of time.

Blog commenting for backlinks would be pretty useless unless you're sure that the links on the comments are do follow. Also, unless your comments are really useful, people won't pay that much attention to the links posted in your comment.

Thanks for the tips. Actually I initially suggested that we create our own blog hosted on our server. My boss didn't want to and thought it was a waste of time so he thought of commenting on blogs and forums.

Oh well, I'll just triple my efforts on the article submissions. I see that's more helpful.

If he doesn't want to create a blog that would reside in your domain, why not create one from either Wordpress or Blogger? That way you can contribute to the backlinks to your main site.

Thanks guys... just a follow-up question... is there a way to look for forums related to your site other than typing "(keyword) forum" in the Google search box? Sorry, I know I ask a lot of questions, but this is the only place where I know I could get great answers. Thanks again for all your help!
