If you can not get the offensive information taken down then you might ask if they are willing to block that page from being indexed.

If still no help then you will need to develop enough web content that defeats the offensive material so that it is deep enough in the search results that very few people will see it. Someone who has a number of websites and who is willing to rent you pages to compete in those search results could be very helpful.

The other alternative is to develop links into existing content so that it outperforms the offensive content. Again you will need someone with a number of sites who can direct links at enough competing pages to bury the offensive content deep in the results.

Either of these could be very expensive.

Why don't you write an article that counters the offensive one then?

Looking at Postive Options

Creating all good/Positive articles is one option we are looking at. How do we make atleast the first 100 listings (pages) of the positive articles appear in the begining of the search engines ? Do we have to make 100 new domains or with a single domain and which contains 100 different pages will do ?
We are yet to decide how to proceed.

Each article would need to be on a different domain. A single domain wouldn't ordinarily occupy more than two positions for a given search term.

Simply writing lots of articles will not guarantee success. You must have them on domains with enough authority to rank higher than the offensive content. If the newspaper site is highly linked and powerful, or with authority this will not be as simple as writing articles and placing them on new domains. New domains will not rank without links. If you want to bury the offensive content 100 places deep that will take a lot of domains, a lot of writing (unique writing) and a lot of links. It's probably easier to rent pages on established domains than build your own collection of sites.

Search google for "reputation management".

To think or believe that you can occupy the first 100 listings within the search engines for any given search term, family name or not, is ridiculous. I don't care how many pages or sites/domains you publish, if the family name is even faintly popular you will most likely not even occupy the first 10 listings. If the family name is something like "Sconoihtsotncdivgtem" you may stand a chance.

New domains will not rank without links

I did not understand what you meant by "New domains will not rank without links" ?

The family name is very very unique and altogether google and yahoo have only less than 10 listings under this name. One of the damaging article which is over 8 years old is appearing in a site which has high viewership overseas.

As you say we can rent pages from established domains, where can we find them ? can you provide few examples or where to contact for renting pages in established domains?

whoever we contacted from the repuation management company say we have to make enough material to bury the offensive contents.
We have started our process for creating over 100 different pages of positive articles about the family. We are still confused whether to go ahead and take 100 new domains and host them as 100 seperate websites.
Thankyou all for all the support and we hope to get all your expert opinion to this unique situation.
