It's a fluke, I have a blog on a subject, and a web site on the same thing. The web site ranks higher. This is not to say that web sites will always outrank blogs, but that it's many other factors that go into the position. I will say that I think MSN loves fresh updated content more than other SE's and spends plenty of bandwidth to get it. Blogs just satisfy this hunger more than most other web sites structures.

Just an update, the blog I have created is still ranked #3 for the branded term i used and its not moved in 17 days, I do not think it is a fluke. Maybe its because i was constantly updating it, but i think it may have to do with what I am using the blog for. Its only for company press releases and case studies. I think that is why its ranking so much. Sure i sneak in a link here and there to different domains, but its not really meant for advertising.
I started the blog, because i noticed that affiliates for the company I work for were blog spamming and I thought it would be a good idea to get that out of google blog searches. (they might be affiliates for the company i work for, but there are thousands that are spammers and they really need to go.) So now when you do a google blog search on our company name the first 4 pages are only from our blog when searching by relevance.

On one of my KWs in MSN, I'm behind a stale blog that hasn't had an input or anything new since March, so I don't think fresh content is the reason.
