The benefits of a blog

The blog can be the nearest to the "heart" of Google search engine. The cache status of your site is a very important section of the web-marketing. If it's usually updated you can have better position with your important keywords by Google hits. If you have a good business I think the best dealing place is the blog, because your potential costumers or clients can give to you their feedbacks through a quality comment and thanks for this the content of your blog will be always change. The changing is a good reason for the quick and frequent caching.

I try to keep my blog and my site separate. And link one way from my blog to the site, since one way links are better than reciprocal.

I also keep the blog on a separate domain

But blogs can be pretty handy for your users too! You can keep them up-to-date with what you intend to do with the site and what you are currently working on.

Don’t avoid creating a blog, they are often easy to make, and there are many free options for you to choose from out there!

Blog is your easy-to-use website. Easy-to-use because you don't need to write any script. Those who facilitae you with "free" blogging, allow you to post your material via writing pad. Your post converts into a web-page, thus you can post as much material as you wish without being involved in complicated jumble of scripting languages.

As for the benefits, yes! Blogger.com allows you to use your blog for financial incomes by giving Google-ads and other adds of your choice.

Hi Hotelaudit, your name suggests you are connected to hotel industry.
How will you use a blog to collect guest comments/feedback?
Will you create a www.abchotel.blogspot.com and add hotel information, and then invite guests to give comments?
Or will you create www.abchotel.com/blog?
How will you bring actual hotel guests to this blog site?
What are the chances of Google indexing this blog, and thus bringing in not guests but viewers, which may help hotel selling?
Will you add a link to blog from your hotel site?
Will you give a link to hotel site from blog?
If yes, will it not be heavy reciprocal linking and spam?

I hope you will not mind so many questions! In fact, I am looking for correct method to use blog effectively to promote hotels. Any guidance will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance....

Hello Ithseo!

Well, yes I connected to the hotel industry, but it has a historical background. For a several years I worked for a company where the focus was on the online reservation of hotels. The name of the company is Online Hotels Ltd. I was their SEO specialist. I don't wanna talk about the reason why, but I left this company, but during my working time I got many good relationships with hotel owners around the world. The base of the idea of Hotel Audit is from my past

"Will you give a link to hotel site from blog?" - Never! It would be business only for the hotels but not for me. I make a linking to hotel reservation site through a quality affiliate program.

"Will you add a link to blog from your hotel site?" - I haven't any hotel site. I just have good relationships with the audited hotels, but these sites are not mine. The linking to my blog would be not a good business for the hotels ;)

"What are the chances of Google indexing this blog, and thus bringing in not guests but viewers, which may help hotel selling?"

Only viewers does mean only high traffic rank. I'm not interested in high traffic rank if it can't bring to me good business. Fortunately I get great confirmed reservation requests from my currently traffic rank. If I have many good relevant back links the traffic rank is in harmonic with the confirmed reservation requests of guests. I work on more back links with my Travel Content Directory plan Anyway the chances of Google indexing for any blogspot blogs or wordpress blog is really great. If you check my blog you can see my posts are always cached. The "Labels" section of blog is only which is not cached because the setting of robots.txt. Thanks for this setting the Google search engine is saved from the duplicate caching.

"How will you bring actual hotel guests to this blog site?"
There are several ways. I can get visiting from search engines like Google, MSN or Yahoo, from Social Bookmarking sites, Myspace or the Hungarian Iwiw, the free of charge classified ads is also a great opportunity.

"Will you create a www.abchotel.blogspot.com and add hotel information, and then invite guests to give comments?"

I invite the guests but their comments are not important. The important is the online reservation, because this is the business ;)

"Or will you create www.abchotel.com/blog?"

I think it doesn't matter anything. Maybe your company looks like more serious with an own domain and web-server hosting , but I prefer the web-server hosting of Blogger. Why? I think my reason is acceptable. In the business of online reservations of hotels the 0 - 24h availability of a web-server is crucial. I can buy or rent an own web-server, but I'm sure -according to my experience- the "out of service" by different reasons would be very high within a year. And every "out of service" is a "say good bye" from the potential clients. With the blogger -also according to my experience- the "out of service" incident for any reasons is 1 or 2 seconds for a whole year.

Okay! I got it! Great achievement! From your first post it was not clear. Can you put yourself in different role to answer my queries? Think of yourself as a hotelier and then give your views on my queries. Thanks anyways for your earlier analysis.

Hello Sarah!

1. I think the buying of a good domain would be useful for you. I've several reasons for that, but now I would like share with you only two important from them. By the time if you have a great and unique content you can get a good reputation for yourself and your domain at the end of your business or hobby can be sold very easily at a great price. If you have an own domain, you can get an own FTP account service which will give to you the freedom. You can make a setting on your robots.txt and you can upload everything what you want. On a free service such as Google Blogger you can feel yourself in a prison. On your FTP account your blogger engine can be uploaded. I suggest to you the WordPress blogger engine, because it's free and under the GPL. It does mean it's an Open Source, so by the time as you become to an expert you can change anything in the source code of your blogger engine. WordPress is developed with PHP.

2. If your blog is in relevancy with your site it can be on your site inside a separated directory. In the top most cases the name of this directory is blog, but everything is depend on you.

3. "what do i do once the blog is up and running, how do i get it going, do i just start chatting onit" Well I'm not sure what you would like ask from me, but I think if you have an interesting content the comments will be generated by the users itself without your artificial intervention. The only what you have to do the is the doing of correct web-marketing.
