My site no longer appears on yahoo or bing
Hi everyone. I'm very new here and have really only just started searching today for a forum like this because of a problem that I noticed appeared today. I'll try and explain it all.
About 3 weeks ago I uploaded my first website and it wasn't ranking anywhere for any words. I really didn't know what I was doing and started to learn. I hadn't added key words, meta description or even page names. After adding all this info to all 425 pages the site began to appear on search engines. Up until yesterday it was at number 3 on yahoo and bing when using unreal facts as the search words. Today it is at 2 on google with the same words, but not anywhere to be seen on yahoo or bing. Even when you type the site name unrealfacts.com into either of the two search engines it doesn't appear. Sorry if listing the page isn't allowed, but it will clearly show anyone who is willing to help me what is happening. But on google it is at 2 on the first page still with the 2 key words.
Now I know yahoo and bing are only very small compared to google, but my concern is that if yahoo and bing have removed my site, even the www from its index could google do the same? I have invested way too much time into this project to see it ruined by being blacklisted by search engines since I have not done anything wrong, just put a lot of hard yards into the site.
If anyone can please offer me some help it would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, seochat looks like a gold mine of info to me and I'm sure to use the hell out of it.
John

Need more information before we can tell what is wrong with your site.
You said something about adding information for more than 400+ pages of your site. Are these tittle, description, meta tags duplicated? How many pages of your sites were indexed before they were removed? Is there any duplicated content that appear on many different pages of your site?
And yes, if your site is de-indexed by Bing and Yahoo due to a violation of their guidelines then there is also a high chance that it would be de-indexed by Google, too.

The problem seems to have resolved itself. I originally had no meta data at all. No page titles, no meta description and no meta keywords. I added a different description and page name to each page, and duplicated the keywords pretty much on every page. The site was missing for most of the day from yahoo and Bing, but is now 1 on Bing and 3 on Yahoo. As I said my main concern was having the site de-indexed by all the search engines, particularly google. I hope this event doesn't repeat itself, as I have invested a lot of time into this project and don't want to lose any of it. I just want to play by the rules and work hard and hopefully get good results from it all

Hi again everyone. It has happened again. I don't know what is going on??? Google is fine, but not yahoo and bing. I have read that yahoo uses bings engine or something along those lines. I have no messages in bing webmaster tools so I don't have the faintest idea whats going on with them. One minute my site is at 1, the next it has vanished. At least this time if I enter the url it will appear, but with any of the words, even the main key words it can't be found anywhere. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? Or am I worried about nothing?
Thanks again and sorry to bother

You have to wait for a while. Sometimes it may take some time for a site to be reindexed by search engines after implemented changes. A small advice - place adds on your site only after it starts generate traffic, for now it would be better to remove it. Also add more content, this will help to speed up site's indexation.

Thanks for the advice seohuntanalytics. It is a bit confusng to me why it keeps going and then coming back again. So long as the site doesn't get lost all is good. I try and add content every day or 2 because I have heard search engines like that. I have also tried commenting on blogs, but I really don't know what to do to get backlinks to help my site with seo in that regards. I don't want to cheat and buy links because that runs the risk of being de-indexed and I don't want that. If I can do a bit of hard work perhaps I can get the traffic and stay on the search pages and even page 1 for most of the key words. Any suggestions from anyone on what I can do, or how to do it?
Thanks again for the advice and help

Hello, is it okay to ask if having your site appear on yahoo and bing or other search engines matter that much?

in order to get backlinks you should search similar to your sites in such niche and try to communicate with their owners, guest blogging is also good, continue to this. try yahoo answers, it's also a good way to get quality backlink, it helped me with one of sites to get into top10 on a certain keyword.

I'm not overly worried about yahoo or bing, but my concern was that if it was removed from either of them could google do the same? That was my main concern.

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought of Yahoo answers and I will give them a go.

Oh so you're really worried about google? Maybe you just have to do something with it before it happens.

Yeah, my main concern is google removing it. It seems to be an on going thing with Bing and Yahoo. It will be there one day and then not the next. The main thing is that it is consistently showing up in google and not disappearing at all from their site. As I said above, I'm only worried because if it happens with one search engine it could happen with them all. At least I'm doing things right and playing by the rules. This is the site if anyone wants to check it out and let me know if there is anything else I can do to help it stay on bing and yahoo and move up in google.

If you're playing by the rules then you don't need to worry. I don't think it matters to Google on what results yahoo and bing is putting up. If you're doing things right, Google is on your side. ;)
