I target only Google. More than 75% of my keywords are among results in Yahoo and around 40% in msn without any proper targetting. Then, I would take all PR ZERO pages and optimize it for Yahoo and Msn. I usually use a spam title and description for MSN optimization and the rest of the keywords will be among results in Y!.

My advice based on self-experience and observations: all on-page factors are important for Yahoo! but don't forget the backlinks, without good backlinks no matter how perfect your on-page optimization is you won't crack the SERPs for top keywords ( it may still work for less competitive keywords ).

Yeah, it sure seems like Yahoo currently values the number of back links as an important ranking factor (I can't comment on if it's the most important factor, however).
For my key word phrases, the black hat sites that have the highest amounts of back links are always in the top 5 spots on Yahoo.

After the most recent Y update here are the top 3 sites for my industry's most competitive phrase; keyword1keyword2

    1 keyword1-keyword2
    2 keyword1
    3 keyword1keyword2

I think domain names have become more important.

Yahoo looks for anchor text that should match the description given to you in Y directory. Key in on that close match and you will get great rewards.

So my opinion is - Great title/Y directory description/anchor

Like Earl say's, if you can get title into url you are way ahead

I've had good results for my inner pages with my new site, just focussing on Title and BL. My only problem is that Y hasn't indexed my Home page. Shows title but thats it, has 18 inner pages fulled indexed though

I've noticed that Yahoo! gives more weight to the actual domain name so that may give you a little bit of an edge. but as with all the major SEs it's offsite SEO that produces the best results.

I am sorry but I have been monitoring yahoo for a year now and these are two very important factors. Also the meta description and H1 tags seem to carry alot of weight also.

I think there is not a single page without 'words' in the SERPs. ;-) Why are some on the top and other on low postions? What do you mean, Mick?
