Huge Jump in Yahoo rankings/ Could registering with Yahoo Local be the key?

I have a client with a restaurant in South Florida. I have only been working the site for a couple months, recently i saw a huge jump in his rankings under many of our key terms, I mean like unranked to number 2. While we have been building links this jump was huge and sudden. I think it is one of two things that caused, finally having improved title tags on each page and indexing them in Google Local. Has anybody else seen any huge spikes like this?
I will be very interested to see what happened to those results when i run my rankings on Monday

Do you mean Yahoo Local? I would highly think that doing something as specific like this in Google would have little to no effect on Yahoo rankings.

Yes, I'm an idiot, I registered in Yahoo Local. Google runs my life I guess!

Thats what I thought. I would think that adding a listing to Yahoo Local helps validate some information and possibly establishes more trust with a business. Not a proven theory just a guess.

Well even though it's not proven i would recommend registering with yahoo local. I mean, it couldn't hurt your website at all by signing up, so why not do it?

    us too.

We had similar results with the Yahoo Directory, and moving up rapidly.

We have always assumed it had to do with our trust factor being positively influnced.

If you made huge changes to the title tags too, I would bet this would be a large influncing factor for your positve rankings also.
