Dropped from the top to nowhere

I've been at the number 1 position in Y serps for ages, now I'm completely gone. No questionable content imo, and no rhyme or reason.

Indexing has gone from the hundreds to 1 or 2 per day, any ideas whats happening?

Though I didn't see a weather update, I think Yahoo did a small pruning update 3 days ago...I lost a few sites this way too -- they may come back in a day or so, or we may have to wait another month.

    Angry

No changes whatsoever, the indexing has slowed down of late, but still remained at the top, what is bizarre is that I'm not down a rank or so, I've been completely dropped by the looks of things. It's a very popular site, with over 4 million page views in 2 years, and has no questionable content.

    I hope that's all it is.. !

I lost some rankings after that last weather update and I am eagerly waiting the next update to see if I can get them back.

I'm not sure I understand about this weather update ? What is that about, how does it affect serps?

I contacted yahoo, they said they are looking into it, but have had no further reply.

The weather updates are usually posted on the Yahoo search blog:

I have a few clients that got totally wiped out on Yahoo! I'm going to wait it out for a week or so before I shift gears...doesn't make sense.

I've found out my site no longer meets one or more of their criteria, without knowing which ones I've no idea. I've answered each and every one of the criteria in an email back. You're right, it doesn't make sense.

If that's the case THoTH, you can reasonably expect to possibly not rank in Yahoo for another 6 months (that was the timefram I endured when they first tagged one of my sites...others here experienced something similar).

Good luck! I hope that your site bucks the trend.

Originally by making a comment about search results, someone emailed me back, and suggested I had the site re-reviewed and to bear in mind several points. None of which seemed appropriate, except a part about multiple sites with similar content/names.

I'm guessing that another site which was also dropped could be the reason for this, I've contacted Yahoo, but they've said they will not respond any further. So will be complaining officially soon.

It's one thing to be penalised but another to be refused a definitive reason, and any further correspondence.

Why do you feel that part is appropriate?

Because another site was set up not by me called the same as mine, had an almost identical url just adding the word "the" to it, and originally featured very similar content.

After a dispute, then they renamed their site and chose a different domain.

Afterwards, they set up another site with lots of links back to their original, using the same name as the first time, and the their original domain name.
