    Hey Callmeshoe,

It would take a good deal of time in order to explain the various differences between Google and Inktomi. Most people in general these days are optimizing for Google and wishing for the best in Yahoo and the rest. I think that will change a lot in the next coming months to years.
If you would like to learn more I would recommend doing a search for "inktomi and google" or "inktomi optimization" etc.. using the search on the site. Read up on the some of the differences and then let us know if you have specific questions that can be answered.

You could always have a subdomain for inktomi, and hand the main site to google (be sure to block google from the subdom tho).

Yahoo focuses on internal structure and linkage. And of course, has it's own dime-centric notions of authority.. reads, pay them and they'll put you in their directory, which, coupled with a little optimization (traditional/meta/internal linkage) goes a long way.

Hope that helps.. and what phoenix said - DO search for further info.

google optimization for competitive terms = lots o optimized inbound anchor text

inktomi optimization = page structure, meta tags and all that jazz. Barry Lloyd is an Inktomi god...

Thanks for all the great help! I just don't want to be solely dependant on Google. Diversify some.
