How about my strategy..
Free Directory Submissions. Once exhausted, move on to a round of article submissions. Once that round completed, do a round of forum posting. Once that is done, do a round of Social bookmarking. Once that round is done do blog commenting on related blog posts. Then go back to article submissions, since free directories still exhausted (updating the list every month or so). Then you can do some sponsored posts or press releases once you get the ball rolling.

Detailed
The strategy mentioned by you is great and is also widely used within the industry. I would just like to add a small detail to it, creating a knowledge base and blog for your site would provide a additional touch, updating them on a regular basis will give you more internal linking..

Stay way from 'free for all' sites they have a good chance of creating a footprint of manipulation so you might get penalised if you get listed in a load of them and dont have any variety.

SEO is about building great content and then good, relevant backlinks. Any link that is easy to get (i.e. free directory, blog comment, forum sig) is not likely to pass very much (if any) SEO benefit.

And have you achieved any first page (let alone first place) positions for competitive keywords using those techniques in the last couple of years?

as mentioned above, a good idea, but very common so it might get you off the ground but it wont get you to Page 1 Postion 1, easy links are jus that, easy so everyone is doing it.

you can do press release and article side by side in one day and once you see your article being approved then you can put you link to your blog that will help you more and do social bookmarking for inner page only once in a week

Re:
This is the strategy generally used by everyone.
Keep on round with all these mediums...
Well the additional things may be like blog creation and posting on blogs.
May be other sources like blog roll and many more.

You left out the most important part: content for your site. Doesn't matter how many backlinks your site has. If there's no incentive for a user to stay on your site then there's little chance for monetization.

Content is King - so first make sure the content and the onpage aspects of the site (after the proper keywords research). Create some great professional content ( strategically) and publish across the medium and try to improve the user experience and you will get the result for sure.

I use basically the same methods as you. While that strategy is a good blueprint, it is most effective when executed regularly. Overtime you will see impressive results (assuming you have quality content).
