OK.. I have noticed that Teoma and ASK have their own toolbars. Which would you suggest? Are they the same? |

Teoma supplies the search results for Ask. I would suggest Teoma's.

Thanks... We tried the Paid Inclusion, but it is just not worth it. Besides why pay a yearly fee when the top 10 Overture listings are always above you anyways... |

The top ten sponsored listings on Ask are AdWords, not Overture.

This is pretty similar to the should I pay for submission to Teoma thread - its only $30 and gets you included in various SE's, almost certainly worth it at that sort of fee.

Teoma
> Anyone know of a free way of getting in ? or is this the only way ?
Hello. For what it's worth, Teoma followed links to my site. I didn't do anything special. I haven't seen much traffic, though. >I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it idents as teoma, not jeeves "Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; Ask Jeeves/Teoma)" - Mike T. He got it. Go figure that asking questions and offering answers would help in the crawl...being listed in Google, and Yahoo help a ton too.

I would suggest clicking on your own link within the Ask index to increase your traffic.
Ask only has 1.7% of search engine traffic (onestate.com) and falling fast. They rely heavily on direct marketing to sell featured positions and banners to none savy webmasters stating that there the second largest SE behind Google. The cost is very high for a set amount of impressions. I personaly have had Touch (Ask's and Lycos direct sales) phone every week stating that they are the second biggest SE. Even when you show them stats of search engine usage they still insist they are!!! They use a very forceful sales technique and I personaly know one person who has signed up and received two clicks, once when he clicked on the featured link him self and the other when he phoned up Touch to ask why he was receiving no traffic and they clicked on the link. In my opinion your far better off concentrating on Yahoo and Google (with Google being the biggest traffic carrier) |

I paid for inclusion in Ask months ago and get virtually zero traffic from them.

They stink, traffic wise. We are currently #2 for our main kw phrase. That really makes us 12. Essentially this is an advertising engine with search results underneath. We get more traffic from quite a variety of other sources than jeeves. Dave |
