If I'm looking for a company, I tend to use the (online) phonebook. It's nice and structured and all. Looking for "encyclopedic" info on a given subject, I like to check wikipedia first... (or clusty since it includes wikiP results...)

I think I may have actually gotten a few hits from ask jeeves a long time ago.... I had heard that they were used a lot in europe. Seem to be doing something right since they are still hanging on.

I use Ask Jeeves occasionally. From statistics I have access to, the trend noticed is: Websites well listed on Google, MSN and Ask Jeeves that are out of the Google sandbox, which target mostly UK customers get up to 4.5% of hits from Ask per month. Websites which target both UK customers and a large international following get up to 1.5% from them. Since every hits counts, I feel Ask Jeeves is well worth getting listed on especially if any of your visitors are from countries where Ask is popular.

UPDATE: I don't use Ask unless I really need some info and can't find it ANYWHERE else... I usually find it at dmoz though... (after wasting time at the SEs... I sometimes think that I'll never learn and that I will always be this dumb...)  MCS x

To be honest, since it takes my sites so long to show up in Ask Jeeves, I don't really think they could have really relevant search results. Most of the things I search for are very new to the world or internet (for instance a new TV show, or technology), so I doubt Ask Jeeves has them in their directory yet.

The only time I use Ask Jeeves is to see if our sites are in their index, other than that I never use them.
