Google Analytics and Webmaster Verification Implementation

    Hi,

I recently moved my website from abchq.com to abc.com. The analytic and webmaster verification code that were present on abchq.com are now present on abc.com.
However I am not sure that now, Do i need to verify or create a new analytic and webmaster account for abc.com or will the old codes will work and will track the data correctly.

Because when I log into google analytics or webmaster account it is still showing the same url abchq.com as it was added as a property.

Do I need to add abc.com to webmasters and analytics account and create new tracking codes or is there any other method through which the url can be changes from abchq.com to abc.com

    Please guide.

    Thanks

Depending on your verification method search console will work:
If you uploaded a file OK (if same file still present on the server)
If you added meta data OK (if the same data is provided in the new site header)
If you added DNS txt records NOT OK (you should add the same txt record to the new domain DNS)

Your Google analytics code WILL NOT WORK.
Every time you generate an analytics account the UA- code changes so you have to update this on your site providing the new data.

For Analytics once the new code implemented, you can use the "live users" section to see if the system detects you when you are browsing your site (if you do so make sure you use an IP that is not filtered out)

Thanks. But I have not generated any new analytic account as for now. The old analytic code is present on the new domain abc.com so I think I can just change the name of the property in the Admin tab with new name abc.com or I think I have to wait for one day to check if it is tracking the data or not.

I guess that you could just modify the site URL in your analytics admin section. The name of the property is just there to help find a domain easily when you track several websites.

    Yes. Right.

In Google Webmasters also, I am checking but it is not showing the new abc.com domain. I also tried to use fetch as Google. I am not sure if that will help in google Webmasters case.

In Google Webmaster tools (Now called Search Console) You have to:

Add a property for the new domain URL (make sure you make the http or https right) and verify it.

My simple suggestion is to in webmaster add your new domain.
In google Analytics use your old site's tracking code to your new site.Verify google webmaster with analytics. That will work
