Yeah well ok: the only benefit is "taking advantage of the gullible".
There is no direct SEO advantage, however. Alexa Rankings - which are still easy enough to manipulate - are not used by any of the major search engines (which do NOT include Alexa)

The Alexa ranking of a website is a guide to how popular that website is in the world. The most popular website in the world has an Alexa ranking of 1, the second most popular website in the world has an Alexa ranking of 2, and so on. It indicates your performance on the internet based on the ranking of your website. It's very good for SEO.

For example you can use the Toolbar or visit Alexa.com to view basic traffic stats on any site in the world. Fact is many webmasters, SEO professionals and web developers use this tool everyday to check website traffic data.

Well that's utter bull crap!
No one with some real knowledge of seo would use Alexa to check traffic stats so your so called "fact" saying that SEO professionals use Alexa everyday is a load of rubbish mate!
If you want to see real traffic stats you NEED to use google analytics or a server side script such as those that come with cpanel, as they show all traffic for the site, not just traffic from people with the Alexa toolbar installed.
The only time Alexa might be a good stat to show is when selling your domain because some numpties like you don't know how to see true traffic stats and still insist in seeing Alexa which only shows you a small amount of traffic.
Damn I'm on this morning with putting down Alexa once again lol

I have to wonder how many people use Alexa toolbar overall. I was using toolbar for a long time. I stopped about a month ago. I have dropped in alexa ranking since I stopped using it from 450k to 900k.
Whats great about Alexa is I know exactly how to increase my ranking !!!

Thanks for the information. Can you tell how it ranks a site?

Alexa has NOTHING to do with rankings!
The only LIMITED information it gives you is from the SMALL amount of people that have the alexa toolbar installed on their browsers.
For an example of how LIMITED and INCORRECT the alexa traffic stats really are:
I know no one that has the alexa toolbar install installed (including myself), so if we was to visit your site and you tried to check on alexa, it would NOT include us in its stats.
Another example, how many people do you have on facebook? I have around 200-300 people on mine, and I'm willing to bet that non of them have the alexa toolbar installed (a lot of them ain't very internet savvy like me so why would they even know what alexa is?), so non of those people I have on facebook would effect the stats alexa shows.
So ask yourself this question:
How many people do you know that have the alexa toolbar installed? Or even better still, how many of them know what alexa is or have even heard of it?
Now ask yourself, just how accurate are the alexa stats? Not very at all!
So if you want to view your REAL traffic stats, you will want to install google analytics on your site and use that or a similar service that WILL see ALL the traffic that's coming, passing and leaving your site!
