Remove Alexa Section?
In my small way to attempt to keep the forums current and fresh, I am seeking to remove the Alexa Section from these forums.
This may have had a place when SEO was gaining ground way back when but since it does nothing in terms of ranking, provides no SEO benefits, and often consumes newer members thoughts and time trying to rank well for it. Therefore, I think it should be removed to make room for something more relevant these days. I'd rather see newbies wasting their time in the other forums where they may actually learn something valuable.
All in favor, vote yes :-D

I personally don't agree. As I've said before, how would they find a place to be corrected if we no longer ranked for it? and how would we rank for it if we removed that section?
I think having it is a great thing for those users out there that are told by ABC SEO company that they need to improve their Alexa rank. They then go search for it, find out the company is bogus, fire them, save money, learn from the forum, and grow to be a contributing member of society once again. (not sure if that's ever happened - would love to hear from you if you found this forum through Alexa inquiries )
So I have to disagree with the notion to delete the Alexa section. Perhaps a well placed sticky note defining the terms of Alexa ranks and why they are not useful would be a better option? Any takers?
P.S. - your poll questions are biased. They do not relate to the worth of the Alexa section, but rather to Alexa's own worth.

You are quick today.... :-)
You do bring up a valid point. Perhaps a sticky like you mentioned is the better approach.
I guess since I haven't reached out to an SEO firm in ages, failed to realize that companies still promote this practice.
I just hate to see people really focusing on this aspect of SEO thinking there is some gain to spending time on Alexa rankings. More often than not, I see questions being asked in this section and little response from more seasoned members of the forum. And this is not to say that the less seasoned members have no opinions or educated responses.
I would see more of a benefit for people to spend time mulling around more relevant sections of the forums. People seem to get stuck here and never see additional overwhelming information that could actually help them.

Removing will not help
I agree that having a section for Alexa is useless, but you do need somewhere to correct people into understanding Alexa is not useful. Educating the masses is the key to informing Alexa as useless.

Alexa being useless is why this forum section is useful haha
It's hard to find information on things NOT to do when people find it irrelevant and remove it. Personally I think it's a good idea to keep it around so that it can be used to inform others who may be falling for the alexa rank from SEO companies.
Because I do know that a lot of "SEO" companies out there charge to give info on improving their alexa ranking. Good for people to have a place to learn that they don't need it
