Nielsen
The Nielsen Group (same as the TV ratings folks) has some sort of ranking for the top 100 (or 1000) web sites. Other than the arbitrary Alexa, there's really nothing that penetrates the vastness of the web's entirety.

The best ranking is how many unique visitors your site gets, if it is a free or information site, or what profit you make from each visitor if you are an e-commerce site. Who cares if you have a 200 alexa ranking if you don't make a buck a month, or if your ranking comes from 50 people that have the alexa toolbar installed.
I'd suggest you get some good traffic tracker, there are many good and free ones out there, as mvtracker or webtracker.
