Is there a good working alternative to Alexa?
When I was a newbie SEO, not so long ago, Alexa ranking seemed a really good idea to rank sites, especially relatively new ones which don't have any Gooogle PR. And having your site gradually climb up the Alexa rankings makes you think that your SEO strategies are working. However, after a little while it becomes evident that these rankings are misleading, at best, with huge anomolies. The brilliant sticky at the beginning of this section confirmed all my suspicions.
So, I have to ask, is there another ranking system like Alexa, which ranks in smaller increments than Google PR? Something that gives us an accurate gauge for the efficacy of our SEO strategies?

Google Analytics
Any site that tries to measure the traffic to sites across the internet without having access to their log files or tracking code on the site itself is misleading. It can only rely on a sample set of the internet population.
As such, ignore these things. They don't really matter anyhow. It's more important to see the numbers for your own site continue to increase than it is to see how other sites are supposedly doing. There are always ways to increase your own sales/traffic, so just keep your focus on constant improvement - not constant comparison.

Best way to check your stats - use cpanel hosting and check your stats with the built in software that has actual access to the server logs - AWSTATS

Google Analytics is fine, but its no real help in competitor comparatives. Unless you've got access to everyone else's google analytics you can't compare with them. That's why Alexa would be good, if it were accurate.

There seem to be an awful lot of websites like Alexa that all seem to suck their data from the same place. Is Alexa reselling or do they just have the same sources?
