Using the meta redirect will improve your Alexa rankings, but at the disadvantage of your search engine organic rankings - which are far more important - for the same reason that you would use a 301 redirect over a 302 or meta redirect.

Using this technique, to paraphrase a well know expression, you'd be paying Paul by robbing Peter, Peter's brothers, sisters and cousins!

An alternative technique that avoids the disadvantages of meta redirects would be to use prefetching: developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Link_prefetching_FAQ

There's far more efficient ways of doing this if it's something you feel needs to happen.

You can use tools that are custom designed to do exactly this.

As for a meta refresh, don't waste your time. You'll only annoy users.

Instead, if you must use markup, why not drop 100 or so requests in a style sheet or the like. That way its transaparent enough that it wont even be noticed by end users (though remember to ensure it's not cached by setting the relevant response header field).

I suspect a tool would be easier though, I mean no matter what you do to visitors sessions, they still have to have the Alexa toolbar anyway.

As for your article, Alexa rank maybe important for AdBrite but not for Adsense, Casale, TribalFusion and other big ad networks.

So if I have to take so much trouble in increasing my Alexa rank just for the sake of AdBrite approval...then it's absolutely not worth it.

Regarding the tags you suggested, this one on every page would have done the same thing.



No need to mention the page URL if you want to reload the same page after a duration of 2 seconds or whatever time duration you want to set.

Another thing that you can do to increase page loads is by using the "No-Cache" meta tag. When you visit a site repeatedly from the same PC..the page loads from the PC Cache and not downloaded straight from the server.

The Meta No-Cache tag will ensure that on every request, the webpage is downloaded afresh from the web server thereby registering as a "hit"

As for asking friends to download the Alexa toolbar and visiting your site for increasing the Alexa traffic rank. I would have asked each of my friends to get me 20 links per week and I would give them a treat.

That IMHO would have been a better way to utilize your's and your friends' time and effort.
