How do I battle a negative review?

I have noticed the ability to post reviews of websites in alexa. Although I never use it a potential customer might. Has anyone had to deal with bad or unfair reviews that hurt their business?

Talking

Seems you have to be registered at Amazon to post a review, so I guess in case someone gives you a bad one, you would have to go to Amazon and ask for them to take it out.

Although... I hope they aren't like Ebay, where someone could post any kind of negative information about you and it is almost impossible to get it taken out

Smile Not sure what you do but its not hard to register

and write a review. I actually go to alexa and read sites reviews quite a bit but I take them with a grain of salt. I tend to think that the bad reviews come from competitors or people with an ax to grind. I wouldn't really worry about it too much. I don't think the average person uses alexa often enough to read the reviews. You could always get some friends to write something nice to balance things out. I tend to think thats what a lot of people do.

have other people add friendly / happy reviews to offset the evil ones...

I do not think all that many people really use those reviews for much and have noticed many reviews of other people's seo websites to be nothing more than vindictive hate reams based on rage and other emotion.

i wouldn't let the Alexa reviews bother you too much. Just respond with a few reviews from happy users of your site and you will be fine.

Spammers and competitors spoil all these review systems. I have been to horrible sites with 5 star reviews.
Probably it was the webmaster himself, who has posted good reviews for himself from different proxies to ensure good review.
I hope they come out with soem plan to tackle this.

You can always play with it, use the bad points (if there are any) and improve a little bit your website.
If you want why don't you make your own review of your website? Make a nice and long text with all the nice things your site offers to your visitors. This is the classical bad vs good thing. Just remember to keep professional, don't mention the negative review in any aspect of your own review and then relax... If you are lucky and if people will review your website in Alexa they will mostly follow other peoples words, and the "wiser" you are, the more points you get in it. It's just like IMDB, everyone will give a movie a 7 if the note is 8 and nobody has seen it...

I can't image the Amazon review in ALexa hurting any bussiness, and I would Image it would be hell to remove a review. If you like you could always spam Alexa with positive reviews of your web site, but then again no real humans ever read or write this reviews.

Lightbulb

There is always court...

If it hurts your business so much, send alexa an court order to remove the offending content, if the bad review contains your site name, a trademark or your company name... add copyright/trademark infringement to the list

I can not see it hurting your business much, almost no ever reads thought post, till after they have bought something. With our sites we have gone back, and did whatever we could to help our customers, so that they might either delete the posts or take them off, but some customers, just want to be difficult. It is much easier to just but up a few "good" posts yourself, then try to get it deleted.

although i dont think it will hurt much to have bad reviews on alexa - id still make the point of getting people to post positive ones just for PR reasons. (not google PR)
