Any smart website Realtor will check site stats not alexa, anyone who goes by alexa to buy a site is an easy rip off.

well, I would never pay for a service like that where they charge you for something and they don't even apply it for themselves... will you?? instead there are some free sites out there that exchanges visits with alexa toolbar installed

You may have a high alexa rating and have low PR and vice versa. Best you work on other aspects like promoting your site more to get more traffic. Here are some ways you could do to market your site more (which in t he long run would also help increase your rankings)

Free methods:
Submission to SE's and directories
Email campaign
Forums, blogs and board postings to targetted audience
Social Bookmarking
Etc. etc.

Premium ways: (Should require a budget)
Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
Targetted Link backs
Professional SEO services
Ad spaces
Offline campaigns
Etc. etc.

Just always keep in mind that patience is a virtue in our industry. Hope my suggestions help out.

So they use their rankings based on the spyware toolbar they have? Thats info I didint know.

I really have a doubt, if alexa is such a crap then why many advertisers consider it? Actually when I am using payperpost,sponsored reviews etc. the advertisers considered alexa rank also. That is the reason why I have to think of alexa. Or else I would not have considered.

alexa give some ideas about how many visitor a site had. with the alexa no you could compare between your site and your competitor. it just a motivating factor to continuously working to make your site rank better at the search engines.
