You have to pay to play on Alexa

I've been told that a way to increase your ranking on Alexa is to pay for advertising on the site. If that's the case than that what value does the site actually have?

My company's site is www.f1play.com.

We've ranked between 20,000 and 400,000 flipping from one week to another. Our web traffic has continuously been increasing every month. So there may be some validity in the statement above.

Alexa

Even if you recieve alot of traffic you may not do well. Besides the demographic,
Alexa also does not work with AOL users and other forms of browsers. Most obviously,
Alexa is only rated on those with the toolbar as well. However, I think that once you get within
the 40,000 and lower it is a pretty accurate tool. Also, as stated in a previous thread Alexa is
an excellent tool to use when making selling points. In response to the Forclosure.net and other
domains falling, did you ever think about forwarding those domains into subdomains. That way
you will direct all traffic to one domain and in turn increase your alexa rating. Craigslist has done
this perfectly (currentley ranked 170).

So, besides selling advertising space on your site, Alexa is more or less worthless, right?

Alexa is totally worthless as a tool for SEO. Why waste your time on something that is meaningless?
