Alexa ToolBar Description
First I have to say I really like having the Google Toolbar and Alexa toolbar on my IE browser at the same time.
Ok, here's a question for everyone. When a site is listed in Dmoz, Alexa picks that listing up and puts the decription by the websites ranking. Now what happens if a site has two listings in Dmoz? Will Alexa pick both of them up or just one? If its just one description how is it determined which one is chose? Thanks,

I'm not sure it picks anything from Dmoz. I thought that when someone visited the site with the Alexa toolbar on, then Alexa comes by and spiders that site. That is what happened to my site, which is not listed in DMoz yet.

I would think that it uses the first one it comes across. Given that there is really only supposed to be one listing per site it won't be an issue in most cases.

Darrin,
I agree with you in most cases it wouldn't be an issue. How ever in our case we got our marketing program listed and our affiliate program listed in Dmoz. This is how this question evolved. I didn't think their was a true answer to it but I felt I needed to ask anyway. |
