alexa site
Anytime i go to alexa.com the images are all broken, the site is a mess and when I click on a search result it doesn't go to the site, but to an error page. Is it just me or is the site really messed up?

I installed the Alexa toolbar as an experiment. My experience of it is it prevents my "home" button from working in IE6, also, it seems to slow down page loads massively.
Huge contrast to Google toolbar which offered me nothing but trouble free operation and a popup blocker to boot. Definitely top marks to Google for that. |

The redirect doesn't seem to work. When I click on a result I get "No web site is configured at this address." Makes no difference what browser I use or what link I try to visit. |

No problems with the Alexa toolbar here. I can use its redirect to a site without problems, and it doesn't seem to slow my browser down, although I really don't have much to compare it to. I normally use Netscape, so I only open IE if I want to look at a site for either one of the toolbars or if it doesn't render properly in Netscape.

Man I think he sees crappy image b'coz of proxy.. i mean it could be behind proxy. Secondly alexa in the course of making alexa toolbar get installed fast they have made it like a html .. ie.. every time u connect to internet it downloads heavy files for first time. I have seen it downloading 500K - 1 MB files as I use network sniffer for my networks.. It really slows down the IE.. btw.. I rarely use IE ;)

As well as the broken images and the redirects not working, it's not picking up the stylesheet.

Maybe since Alexa is largely irrelevant, liable to abuse (alexabooster) and makes surfing slower than an ant with a broken leg carrying heavy shopping, it's time we un-installed it.
If I can ever be bothered to fire up control panel I think I'll raise the effort to click my mouse a couple of times. |

I just have to make a comment here: Why would anyone that knows anything at all about SE's, SERPs, SEO, etc. bother with Alexa? Alexa is a meaningless site ranking system driven by a meaningless algo that presents meaningless data. Alexa is a total waste of time. Sorry... I just had to say what was on my mind.

I'm not actually that bothered, and I certainly wouldn't install the toolbar. I was just curious as to why I can't view the site properly and why the redirects on the links don't work. |
