Calm guys Alexa is not bad

Why du hate Alexa so much? I guess most of you have not too high ranking?
Just come to freelance sites, there lot of buyers ready to buy your site/domain what with rank above 200K
Sure Alexa doesnt give your site free extra traffic, but it shows the sites health well, and too shows you are good marketer. Current Alexa system is accurate enough to ignore faked hits from proxy IPs. I have tried many boosters that generate Alexa hits but all were dead. I am so ready to buy the one working if you can prove me it does.

I don't hate Alexa. A good Alexa ranking does not mean you are a good marketer - it just means you have the Alexa toolbar installed on your computer.

Yup, I had the Alexa TB for a day or two (before I noticed it started to get the names mixed up with my other toolbars). I clicked on my low-traffic site once or twice and sure enough my Alexa ranking went up a bit. Of course it's supposed to do that, but still it's too easy to fool.

Maybe it will get better if all SEOs convince each other that it's crap, so no-one will bother to fool the system anymore ;) (But I guess then it would start all over hehe)

Now if Alexa could spot if people actually DID something on a site, e.g. buy something, play a game, whatever, now that would be cool...

I dont think so. If you have Alexa toolbar installed and re-fresh your site twenty times a day, youll get NODATA rank for that day, sure, if no other visitors were to the site.

I do think so - I can get any site to <50 000 on Alexa, just by clicking on it from 20-30 times a day on several pages for a few weeks from 2 IP addresses - its easy.

My partners company have 4 static IPs, about 40 PCs, all with Alexa toolbar, they selling web-hosting and software customization, and they want to get current 400,000 rank up. Can you help? For how many $? U can PM me. Thanks

Yeap, it showed me that I had a lot more traffic than my direct competitor... Even if he cheats, he's still behind my results. After that I installed the Alexa Toolbar and my ranking didn't change that much (as for other websites I have, the rank was really manipulated (with just 1 visit a day...).
