Alexa Ranking 68,000. Any good?

Hi guys,

Just today I checked my alexa ranking has come down from 2 million to 68,000 in 1 year. My next target is to get it below 10,000 in a year or two, but I don't know why I want to do that.

My Question is, is this any good? Alexa has been helping me looking for competitors rankings etc, but I am still not sure why people are so obssesed with it if its not that accurate?

Dave

Alexa has NOTHING to do with SEO at all..ie it's not a part of any serps....so if your question is about SEO, then ignore Alexa....all us SEO pros do....

I'm not an expert about this but just want to ask WHY should we ignore alexa rankings? does that mean that a page being ranked at 19,000,000 is not accurate and just the same as those ranked in 2,000,000???

absolutely correct. ie alexa rankings mean nothing to anyone in SEO...nor to anyone who understands that they are toolbar generated crap stats....so what 'value' would thatt have to anyone in the know?

newbies on the other hand get sucked into this whirlwind all the time...tho a google on same and a read of the hits would show them the truth, eh?

alexa = crap. that's my forumula....

Its alexa traffic rank but there are other factors that go into ranking I feel and as some of you report. It does not rank you by content. Not everyone is after SEO. There are people who dont give a damn how high is your PR. Alexa ranks domains not pages.

But I agree with you all that it does throw up stupid ranks some times. Over all its useful for those who know who to use it.

For those who need to do some banner posting will prefer you over me if your Alexa Rank is 10k and mine is 15k even though my PR is 5 while yours is 3. Cuz they are after visitors and you have them.

You still want to know why Alexa exists? And yes its not crap. Who knows if it might be a factor in ranking tomorrow? You dont know how to play cricket then thats your problem and it does not mean all cricketers are fools.

*I am not an alexa fan. LOL

ALEXA IS CRAP!!! But, if you are selling ad space, links, or URLs to novices... to claim a good Alexa rank will assist in selling your wares to those that are uninformed.

Bottomline: Alexa has value, BUT NOT IN SEO.

ALEXA = Waste

Alexa is nothing but a pile of hipe'njunk.
The fact ...
1. they hide behind the Amazon cloud
2. they are not contactable
3. they display false data
... should tell you everything you need to know not even to think about ALEXA!

It a worthless piece filling up the internet with junk!

And I have information that we tested a few days back that if you install Alexa tool bar and set alexa as you home page the AR shots up.

We did it on 4 systems and the rank decreased by half. Our actual traffic has grown from 1.5k to 1.7 k mean while.

Thank you

for confirming.

That's why some like to swallow steroids, just to look like Arnold for a short time and then appear like a fluffy meet ball the moment they stop.

If you need ALEXA' toolbar for ramping up your ranking, what is the true value of it?

BTW, where is cricket coming into that? Does it also help your ranking? Let's argue then about soccer, too.
