Thumbs down Alexa booster!

I just received an email about the alexa booster. I am sure the email came from someone here as I have not posted anywhere else about my site. Have you heard of this? WTF. It sends fake hits to your site to increase your ranking! No offense, to whoever sent me the email but I am not intersted in scamming anyone. I want my site to be legit and when it gets to the top I want it to be because of my hard work and because its an awesome site. Have you heard of this? Would you use it?

I will say that one of my friends and i did try to see if we could fool alexa a couple years ago. So we programmed a little utility that did just that. We went up 1000% in ranking.
Bot we did it for one day as it was just as a test. And we knew it would not do us any good anyways. But to tell you the truth it's something farely easy to program, a few minutes not more, and it won't give you trafic.

Alexa boosters can really boost your Alexa rating, but what's the point? digitalpoint.com has an Alexa rating of roughly 1,000. But does it bring us any extra traffic? No. Do I even have the Alexa toolbar installed on my own machine? No.

Thumbs down

Alexaboosters killed Alexa. No one believes in its rankings anymore.
I agree... what's the point of using such a thing? It doesn't help you at all in your PR or SERPs

the reasons people use this fake traffic are

1.) to make their own ad space look as if it has greater value
2.) to make others think that their sites are doing good
3.) to show proof of sold generic fake traffic

4.) some people are dumb enough to pay for the fake rating changes. if you are willing to pay for them then I have a friend from Nigeria who wants to deposit his dad's oil money in your bank account.

i have to agree that using alexa boosters seem like a waste of time and money, if money at all.

alexa doesnt help your site's traffic, so why bother in my opinion

You know what is really interesting, since I joined SEO Chat I have yet to see a positive thread about Alexa. I know we have Alexa as a SEO Chat Forum category... but why? It is a meaningless site ranking tool that is not used by anybody that has a clue. Anybody on here truly use Alexa except as a novelty?

No, there results can be manipulated way to easily. Simply download their toolbar and access your site. Instant traffic increase, not to mention all the other ways to scam them. I don't know of anyone who relies on their data.

They are selling their top 10,000 and top 100,000 lists. So, they are probably the only ones making any use of those stupid rankings! that is, if some one really would fall for such a thing! The price is unbelievable! $500! Probably $5 would have been more logical? (Still wouldn't have bought it!)

Thumbs down I think Alexa is not fair .....

Look the Domain www.chello.at Rank 7.000 or so (<- my Internet Provider)

And also all subdomains www.chello.at/userpage

This unown userpage gets 20 or less Hits in the Week and get also Rank 7.000
I think that is not fair.

(sorry for my bad english, i am from Austria)

I think Alexa rankings vary to much sometimes I am 300,000 sometimes im not but I do believe that they are quite precise when you get in the top 100,000
