Why would CJ deactivate my account?
I've had a Commission Junction account for over a year but only started using it a 3 weeks ago. I placed some CJ ads on relevant pages that also contain Adsense & pay-per-sale affiliate links (usually a 1 page pre-sell description & link per page).
CJ click-thrus were poor but when I last checked on my stats found that my account has been 'deactivated' & I can't login. I haven't done anything spammy or slimey and as far I can tell am not violating thier TOS. I'll try and contact them but it seems impossible unless you can login. Same thing happened to me... I tried signing up again, only to see that even though I live outside the USA they expect me to fill out some stupid tax form now.
Screw them, even Adsense doesn't ask for that.

CJ has been deactivating sites with no warning that have not had a certain # of sales for 6 months. Don't really agree with their policy. I hear you can start over by setting up a new account using a new email address.
Best of Luck! Linda AKA Catalyst

It would be nice if they gave notification so that I wouldn't continue running commission-free ads for them. |

Reply from CJ:
Your account has been deactivated due to a lack of transaction activity. Publisher Accounts deactivated for Dormancy are not eligible for re-activation. However, there is no restriction on the individual trying again with a new account. If you are interested in utilizing our network again, please go to www.cj.com and sign up for a new publisher account, you will need to use a different email address. Feel free to contact me if you require further assistance. |

Interesting method of keeping the float balance.
Although it might sound standoffish, another way to get around this is to actually generate some sales. I don't know what their limit is, but a few sales a month shouldn't be too difficult if the traffic is targeted enough. Cygnus

I always wonder if a company is saving enough by deleting people who haven't made sales to make dealing with the resignups from the ones who really want to be affiliates worthwhile. I'd give more than 6 months for an affiliate to make a sale; what if it's a new site. Takes time to get traffic. They really ought to notify you, but then they might still be earning money from the company whose ad was clicked, I suppose, whether or not you get paid. Just have to wonder, after all.
