Has anyone attended any SEO or affiliate shows/conventions like the Internet Affiliate Marketing Association or CJ or others?
Are they beneficial?

I just did internext in florida but I was the only SEO booth there. I was surprised that adult webmasters have no clue about SEO and I turned out a hell of a lot of business, also I am now writing articles for www.xbiz.com so I got some great exposure out of the trip. I don't mind sharing and telling you enthusiastic SEO's that the adult market is booming.

Here the problem: SEO is not pushed to business people like this:
Quote:
We often forget that SEO isn't something so diversely different that we need to baffle people with things they don't understand. SEO isn't about search engine processes, reports or even technology it's about commonly known business and marketing sense... Exposure, market interest, market share, market demand, competitive advantage, sales conversions, and profit margin... or What most business owners want out of their business.

I attended the CJ conference in 2001. The location could not be beat in Santa Barbara, CA. I found the conference educational about the CJ interface, however not so much about affiliates or affiliate trends. There seemed to be a lot of people that attended so the networking opportunity was the most beneficial part of the conference. I am planning on going to the iAFMA conference this April. Internet.com also tends to post a lot of good looking conferences from JupiterEvents. I would also be interested in learning about upcoming affiliate conferences if anyone knows of any.

I hope to meet many people and put faces with names and email addresses. I"m really looking forward to the conference. I"ll definitely give my two cents when I return at the end of June. Have fun at your conference in NY.

Ad Tech
I just checked out Ad-Tech in SF. I personally thought it was great, not because of any crazy insights - but more because it gets you thinking of some new ideas.
There was a particular panel of 4 speakers which was good. They had the guy who handles the eBay/CJ relationship, A gentleman who ran an Outsourced marketing Firm, a guy who ran an affiliate program for an expensive luxury furniture retailer online, and a guy who ran the affiliate program for a custom gifts company. There was talk about dealing with your top affiliates, costs of outsorcing, the best outsourced platform, search arbatrage and things along those lines. I think the conference is going to be in Chicago soon, and then in NY later this year. www.ad-tech.com Good luck with your search. --Chris Ueland, CTO Globat.com - Web Hosting Made Easy (R) |
