Question SEO/Affiliate Shows/Conventions

Has anyone attended any SEO or affiliate shows/conventions like the Internet Affiliate Marketing Association or CJ or others?

Are they beneficial?

I just did internext in florida but I was the only SEO booth there. I was surprised that adult webmasters have no clue about SEO and I turned out a hell of a lot of business, also I am now writing articles for www.xbiz.com so I got some great exposure out of the trip. I don't mind sharing and telling you enthusiastic SEO's that the adult market is booming.

Here the problem: SEO is not pushed to business people like this:

Quote:
SEO (SEM) – Time To Get With The Times

In a full service, online design and marketing notable results are often achieved in 2 - 4 weeks.

In this time, most clients can reach and maintain 1,000 new potential customers that have a specific need for their products or services each day.

At this level of achievement, a market reach of 30,000 new and interested consumers can be acquired per month, or slightly more than $0.03 cents advertising cost per potential customers.

Month 2/3, you can possibly reach a plateau of 2,000 new and interested consumers each day or about 1 1/2 cents advertising cost per person.

No other marketing, advertising or promotion media can claim "less cost per precise potential customer received".

Most advertising Medias send your advertisements out to their general circulation or known interest groups that may or may not have a specific desire for you -- at the time of advertising.

An advertising circulation could be 100,000 however, many of these publishers cannot precisely tell you what interest level their circulation audience will have towards you and often this is a "hit or miss" method of promoting your business.

Print media is disadvantaged at promoting your because the cost and time sensitive. Designing, publishing and distributing your advertisement may or may not be at the same time the potential customer has a need.

Additionally, print media is a once only proposition meaning - to target more of a market you need more print and more advertising costs.

In contrast, full service online design and marketing is "passive advertising". What this means is - people searching online most often want what they are searching for. One advertisement (your website) is developed to sit and wait for that search to occur and to find "all" of your searching markets each time one individual of that market has a need.

With today’s online design and marketing methods your information, products or services are available when your markets need you.

In this way, you become "demand driven" as people will categorically search for information, products and service that can fulfill their immediate needs, as well as future needs.

With the right design, and website motivators your sales conversions can be far superior to any other advertising media and often 5 - 10%.

This marketing method delivers strategies that will initially target a marketing barrier of - "2,740" consumers per day. If you can reach and maintain a consistent 2,740 daily rate – this is 1 million yearly potential customers.

Additionally, converting this to sales at say 5% a possible 50,000 units sold. If you have a profit margin per unit sold of $20.00 this is $1 million dollars yearly return.

We often forget that SEO isn't something so diversely different that we need to baffle people with things they don't understand.

SEO isn't about search engine processes, reports or even technology it's about commonly known business and marketing sense...

Exposure, market interest, market share, market demand, competitive advantage, sales conversions, and profit margin... or

What most business owners want out of their business.

I attended the CJ conference in 2001. The location could not be beat in Santa Barbara, CA. I found the conference educational about the CJ interface, however not so much about affiliates or affiliate trends. There seemed to be a lot of people that attended so the networking opportunity was the most beneficial part of the conference. I am planning on going to the iAFMA conference this April. Internet.com also tends to post a lot of good looking conferences from JupiterEvents. I would also be interested in learning about upcoming affiliate conferences if anyone knows of any.

Ad Tech

I just checked out Ad-Tech in SF. I personally thought it was great, not because of any crazy insights - but more because it gets you thinking of some new ideas.

There was a particular panel of 4 speakers which was good. They had the guy who handles the eBay/CJ relationship, A gentleman who ran an Outsourced marketing Firm, a guy who ran an affiliate program for an expensive luxury furniture retailer online, and a guy who ran the affiliate program for a custom gifts company.

There was talk about dealing with your top affiliates, costs of outsorcing, the best outsourced platform, search arbatrage and things along those lines.

I think the conference is going to be in Chicago soon, and then in NY later this year.

Good luck with your search.
