Hey check out these recent Revenews Blogs about the Republican National Committee setting up an affiliate program on CJ! Partial Excerpt from the CJ detail page:

"We must give President Bush the support he needs to keep our country moving forward in a positive direction. Only you can help provide the resources needed to re-elect a Republican president and Congress. Your support is urgently needed. By the way, you'll earn 30% of each donation you bring in for the RNC (capped at 30%). It's a great cause and with your support we can make this a huge success for everyone."

This is big news - political lobbyists paying 30% of donations to affiliate marketers!

Two things:

1. It is unfortunate for anyone donating, as only 70% of their money (a lot less than that by the time it gets there) gets to the ultimate destination.
2. It's hard as hell to get donations like this, from an affiliate point of view.

I saw this earlier, and was joking for a while with one of my partners. We considered, albeit very briefly, on cranking up a few sites to dominate the engines for a few choice political phrases -- I doubt it'd be all that profitable though, oh well.

Actually 30% is probably lots less than they typically pay for TV, radio and news paper ad campaigns.

it makes sense, and remember...even if someone doesn't donate, the fact that their banner is seen on more and more websites, will give them the exposure that they want.

what's different then my local police asking for donations, the company calling me gets 80% - 20% actually goes to the state troopers.

All political parties need money Bush, kerry whoever. At least there are things in place like campaign finance reform!
