$$$ Page Sponsoring Rates $$$
If this is in the wrong sub-forum maybe a mod can move it.
A friend of mine is, or at least claims to be, a PPC and Internet advertising expert. He is counseling me to offer up about 100 geo-targeted pages of our 9-year old authority site that lands in the top 5 of the SERPs for terms like: <state> auto loan, <state> home loan, <state> student loan, <state> accounting services, <state> accounting jobs, <state> accounting degree, etc. He claims that if I look for or allow exclusive individual page sponsorship that companies will pay BIG dollars up front to rule each individual state page on an exclusive basis because of the attractiveness of the keywords. Is he blowing smoke, or is there some truth in what he is saying? Comments from any of you advertising gurus here on SEO Chat?

I am not an advertising Guru but I think that a lot of companies would pay handsomely to own top spot on one of those pages. The problem that I see is that if you let them "Rule" these pages then you will need to hire a full time person to design pages and cater to their whims. You might also see a traffic drop because they have taken over the content.
I would need to be paid a lot of money over what those pages are currently earning. The reason... I would rather be a "publisher" than a "landlord" who must modify the building to suit a tenant who thinks that he owns the place! p.s.... they will probably want to stink up your pages with links to a bunch of crappy sites too.

Egol... that was a post from 2005 when you and I were experimenting with special Adsense pages for each state... remember? Mine are still producing nicely. Yours?
At that time, via PM, I was counseled by many to not walk doen the road for many of the reasons you have stated. I dropped the thought long ago. |

LOL, this thread was actually revived this morning by someone asking for a site review. Gotta love people for that, right?
Just FYI. |

Thanks! I didn't pay attention to the date - it was listed as an active post in my listings... I thought that SEO_AM was revisiting this topic.
