I'd like to throw out an open offer to the community regarding an affiliate program / SEM idea my company has been toying with.

We provide the URL, clean graphic design & initial text, and you get it into the top 10 SERPs in Google for a particular key phrase.

For this type of service, we can provide $5 / application filed through the site for life OR pay $5000 if you can keep the URL in the top 10 for that phrase for 30 days (paying $5000 for every 30 days you keep that site up there).

We'd maintain ownership of the site, and handle the costs associated with it (design template, hosting, etc) as well as the risks (like it getting banned).

And how are YOU going to make more than $5,000 a month simply from having one URL in the top 10? It looks more like a BIG scam, a porn program, or having to being in the top for an extremely populer word. If it's not a scam or porn, prove it works. Post some URLs and there keywords.

We are in the payday loan industry; the term would be 'payday loan.' Yes, it is a highly competitive term, which is why we'd be willing to pay out $5000/month if it was in those SERPs in Google for that time frame.

How do we make money? We have an intricate lender network, which allows us to determine where each application should go, depending on a vareity of variables provided in the application. At the #10 position we'd probably make a small profit; at the #1 position, we'd do fairly well.

As for URLs, simply go to Google and search for 'payday loan.' The top guys are making a lot of money. If that doesn't work for you, go to Overture and see what people are bidding for that term. If that still doesn't work for you, we'll give you a contract. Not quite sure yet? Go for the $5 / app deal then, in which case even a second or third page ranking, for multiple terms, will probably bode well for you.

This wouldn't look too hard to do! My main keyword, nintendo, has 12,900,000 listings, and I'm #3 for that, while payday loan has just 877,000, and "payday loan" has just 679,000!

With Google changing all the time, instead of having to choose between them and not geting paid if we pick the $5,000 and Google then changes near the end of the month, knocking us out of the top 10, you should guarantee the $5 per application so we would still make money when Google updates it's SERPS.

There's always a give and take.

Our experience has always been (with normal affiliate programs) that the CPA payout is higher; it's a risk versus reward calculation.

If one chooses the $5 / app, he or she gets $5 / app. If a person chooses the $5k option, we certainly wouldn't want to penalize for a Google flop...therefore we'll calculate how much that person has made in the given month and pay up to $5k on the per-app basis [minimizes risk for both parties as well as provides assurances of $].
