Most profitable business?

Provided you have a domain name with traffic, good PR and plenty of links. What content
would you put in that domain to make the most amount of money? Must be legal in US and how long
would it take to come up with the content. Already know about adsense...

The inbound links are generic so it doesn't match any theme but they still will help with SERPS.

If you are good at SEO and generating traffic, some of the most lucrative programs are financial lead based programs. Mortgage, credit cards, insurance, debt consolidation, loans.
Several of ours have cut individual checks over 10K a month. Financial content is pretty easy to whip up.

The other market that can be very high paying is travel. Many of the travel affiliate programs, like Ian.com have templates so you can build a custom site quick and easy.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

LOL that’s going to be fun to get to the top of results of about 10,400,000 for debt consolidation. Traffic level 450,000+

Where did I put that domain from 2 years ago before the 2004 google slowdown! ;p

I have found law and college being some high payouts for us.

Not quite! It all depends on the demand & cost of the product ultimately.

I have a technical website related to computer software topics drawing more than 70k impressions a month. But I don't make more than $1.6 CPM. On the other hand another affiliate site with a niche product gets around $10+ CPM but the traffic there is too low. Inspite of this I make some money out there.

It all depends on the industry..

try putting the $10CPM on a folder on the busy domain and link it from the home page. See if it matters

There are a lot of factors that could be at play.... Qualified traffic is a lot better and making money than random surfers... also, layout of site, position of your ads and the price compared with other sources of same product.

The key is to experiment with location, offers and promotion - and keep careful records. If you do this your income will creep up or jump up because you keep the best and trade up through experimentation.

I spend more time on experimentation than I do on building sites and getting backlinks combined.

EGOL is right! We had a site that was getting about 3,000 uniques a day, but it was not making more then 32 cent day. We started moving the ads all around and changing the colors till we came up with this god awful color that was getting about 4-5% click through ratio, which turned into about $35 dollars a day.

Can I get the content somewhere (from the aff manager site), change a few things so it's
not a dupe and slap it into a site?

too much to do lately ...

My feelings are that you should read up on the subject and then write some quality original content. Just like if you were hired to do SEO for a client. You will find that quality can be just as important as quality when it comes to affiliate sites. Also try and find a program that will give you the shortest amount of steps from the client's click on a search engine to you making money. Me personally I like the financial field because I am familiar with it.

If you want to find out the hottest searched words, go to paid WordTracker (less than $10 for one day subs.), and get the list of top 1000 (or is it 10,000?) key phrases. You can get two reports, long term, and short term, and have adult filter on/off.

Once you like a phrase, and you think you can work with it, type it into WT and see what the traffic and competition is. Get a good sense of that.

Then use WT or google to get a sense of how much people are bidding.

Also as stated, check out other affiliate programs out there.

The effort spent in the study phase would pay handsomely year after year, grasshopper

I don't work for WT

that market is too flooded. If you throw up a mesothelioma site now, most of the ads are for adsense sites and pay 5 cents a click.
