Hi,
Affiliate programs can allow you to earn extra revenue from your site and they add user content. Search engine affiliate programs are some of the most widely used because their easy to set up plus they offer your users away to search the web right on your Web site. Now picking an affiliate program out that is best for your site can be difficult or it can be very easy depending on which company you use and what kind of program best suites your site. Some affiliate programs have you sell the companies product and you earn a commission from the sell. How often does a user that comes to your site click through on a link and buy a product from another company when the user wasn't looking for that product? This can happen if the product is similar to yours, but if your linking to a site that sells product like your site you are basically linking to your competition and you are selling your competitions product. You may earn revenue from this but the next time the user wants to buy a product he/she will return to the site they have bought from in the past. <---- in most cases You can choose to place a search box on your site and earn revenue for click-throughs. This can aid the user in finding what he/she wants in case they do not find what they want on your site. Most search engines offer search boxes, hard links, referral programs ect... Now picking a search engine affiliate program can be easy because their are so many to choose from, but only use an engine that has good partners and a great support team. We see allot of pay per click (ppc) search engines offering 40%-50%-or even 60%. That looks like a great revenue source but what most ppc will not tell you is that you are earning 60% of .01 cent or .02 cents. Now that 60% looks like crap and you will have to deliver a ton of traffic to earn anything. I'm not trying to plug our site but this is why Surfcorp became a Meta Search Engine. We display results from Sprinks, Ah-ha and other large ppc search engines. There are other Meta Search Engines out their but finding one you trust and one that has good partners is hard to come by. The moral to this thread is research affiliate programs before you decide on one, and don't hesitate to contact the Web site's affiliate support team with your questions. A quick email response is always a plus! A slow response is negative. Regards, Brent Trotter Surfcorp.com

Hi Surfcorp,
Can you explain why we would join your service over kanoodle? If you are using their results would that not mean a reduction in revenue for the affiliate after you take a small slice? |

Hi darkblue,
Kanoodle has a great affiliate program and if you only want to show one search engines results at a time then joining a large search engine is the way to. Now if you want to show multiple search engines results and maximize your search revenue then a meta search engine is the way to go. We are not trying to promote our affiliate program I am just wanting to make webmasters aware of what's out their in the affiliate area. Here is how meta search engines work. They supply search engines highly targeted traffic for a bigger cut of the bid price then what the every day joe can get. Now if you put a search box from one search engine on your site then if a keyword is queried you are only showing that one search engines results no matter what the bid price. What if your users are searching for off the wall topics and that one search engine doesn't have any listings, or the bid price on those keywords are really low. That's why Surfcorp is a meta search engine because we can offer an every day web site away to put a search box on their site and show results from some of the leading ppc search engines. Most large search engine will not allow a low traffic site to display their results unless you can qualify. Choosing an affiliate program is sometimes a tuff thing to do but remember it only takes a little time to change it. If you have any questions about affiliate programs don't hesitate to ask and I will answer the best I can for you. Regards, Brent Trotter Surfcorp.com |

Thanks for that Brent,
I think your point Quote:
Services like yours offer affiliates a collective bargaining power that they may not other wise have against the bigger PPC search engines. I have an affinity with this kind of approach because it is the same approach we took with DarkBlue. I honestly believe that affiliates are not given due credit and the chance of organising a collective political voice is slim to none. So using a service like yours or an affiliate network gives the average affiliate the collective bargaining power that they probably deserve individually. |

Hi Darkblue,
Thanks for the good feedback on my last post. I agree with you because every website has to start out some where. It would be great if I could buy a domain name put some information on it and have it be a Big website right from the begining. Too bad it doesn't work like that. It takes allot of long hours and sweat (of course marketing skills) to get a website to produce large amounts of traffic. This is why Surfcorp offers the every day joe a search box that has very large search engines in it. We developed this program for every size of website including the small guy. You always hear about these affiliate managers going for the super affiliates. Have these affiliate managers ever told you that if your super affiliate becomes unhappy and leaves your site your revenue and traffic tumble. This is why we would rather have 10 small - med. sites doing what one super affiliate could produce. Its like the stock market do not put all of your money into one stock. Personally I have done this and I got burned bad. You live and learn! Its been nice speaking with you and if you woukld like to talk again or need anything from us do not hesitate to contact me at anytime. Regards, Brent Trotter Surfcorp.com |
