How does MySpace make money?

Hi,

Can someone please explain to me how a website
like MySpace.com makes their money?

I know it's through advertising but how?

How do they profile their users so they know what
ads to show them?

I'm asking because I think I can put up a site
that can draw lots of traffic, but would not be keyword
rich (hence would not be able to use adsense effectively).

Thanks in advance,

Joe

they dont. hahaha. Im sur they do make money but not much compared to other online marketers, there way of marketing to me is very lame. They got a site were a bunch of kids "with no credit cards" chat to each other, and on every page the user incounters it contains lame banners. with alll the promotions they do they dont make to much. but im sure they get a **** load of traffic, whats traffic with no sales.

With the teenie-boppers they are looking for impressions. They want the teens to remember them when they are in the mall. That is why television, radio, and magazine ads exist. The name of the game is impressions so that there is product RECOGNITION when the teens do shop.

No... there are multiple banner ads for a myriad of products on MySpace. I bet MySpace is being paid for banner ad impressions in addition to online affiliate sales. That is why I cited ads in the print media. They get paid by circulation (which equates to impressions).

Wasn't it true that google didn't make money at first? I think that was also true of amazon or am I thinking of another site.

But eventually they did make money and maybe that is the plan here, to get the traffic and then figure it out.

I think the $900 million deal with Google to display AdSense ad's on the site might help their profit!

Send a message via Yahoo to totalit#051
I'm pretty sure of this too - at the traffic they have those adsense ads will bring them a little fortune.
