Home Improvement Products - Do affiliates make money?

Hi, I am considering joining an affiliate program. I find 'Home Improvement' sector interesting. Flooring, home decor products, furnishings etc. But not sure if I can make money from this sector. Can you share your experience? or suggest a good company? Thanks.

Think about this - and I'm not suggesting any answer here it's just food for thought based on some of my own experience. Do people buy home improvement products online? The one that popped out at me first was flooring - I don't know if I'd buy flooring online. Furnishings? Not sure about that either -- would people buy online or would they rather go to the store, sit in the chair to make sure it's comfortable, and then buy it at the store and have it delivered? Smaller furnishings and decor I would be able to see.

I do have a friend who just bought a house in a different state and ordered most of their furniture online so it was delivered right when they arrived at their summer home - so maybe I'm just being pessimistic here.

Just a couple of thoughts for you - good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

Another thing to think about...

Why would anyone go to your "Home Improvement" site vs. well-known established names like Home Depot or Lowes??? If you want to be successful, you have to give people a reason to visit your site. If you're only offering product descriptions and affiliate links... there's no reason to go to your site first. They can get all that stuff directly at the SOURCE!

It seems like the "Home Improvement" area would be a hard area to create a niche for an affiliate site. Unless you could create a "price comparison" between both the BIG PLAYERS... I can't really see any reason why someone would go elsewhere.

Sure go for it. in my opinion them types of things are the best to promote! why? Because people need them things, and as people get lazer and lazer the order offline. Real things that people need run over domb *** ebooks and get rich schemes.
