This might help

I make money with affiliate marketing but only adsense and on other product I sell. You might offer some free downloads with a purchase to compete with others selling the same thing.

Affiliate Marketing tips

First and foremost the most important tip that I can give you is to not jump in feet first. Do your homework on the company and products that you want to promote to make sure they are reputable. The last thing you want to do is market junk!

You only have one chance to make a good first impression, and then you want to build on that. Successful affiliate marketers sell themselves as a trusted authority on the products and services they promote.

They have also worked hard at building their online reputation as a trusted source for quality information that will help you get the most out of a product or service that they themselves use.

Show your visitor how the product worked for you, and then show them how it can work for them too. Don't be afraid to talk about the pro's and con's, act as if you are the consultant who is tring to help your client choose what is best for them.

If you put your visitors needs first, and forget about the sale, you will gain credibility with them, and they will be more inclined to follow your recommendations in the future.

Building a successful affiliate marketing business takes time, and remember think of yourself as a consultant, not a sales person.

If your going to use ppc advertising then you need to be able to track your ads to see which ones are driving the most traffic to your website, or affiliate marketing links, and eliminate the ones that don't produce good results. TEST...TEST...TEST

I would also like to say that driiving traffic to affiliate websites through ppc ads may help you make a sale, but it will not help you build your reputation as a respected affiliate marketer.

Setting up your own website, with your own original content will not only help you build your credibility, it will also help you build repeat visitors. Once you have people returning to your website over and over again, Word of mouth has a way of spreading like a wildfire.

My opinion on affiliates is while there is a lot of hard working affiliates that try their best to sell your products using ethical practices, there are 10x more of them that will use unethical ways and find ways to "steal a sale". By stealing a sale, I'm mean that without their action, the sale would have been yours anyway. Example would be bidding on your company name.

I used to make as much as 10,000 a day with affiliate marketing through PPC. These days are gone though, the particular program I worked with is kinda closed, but there are many more others...

Not true at all. This is an SEO forum and YOU CAN make 10's of thousands of dollars a month with only SEO. You can even do it with more than one program.

You really don't have to spend money to make money. You have to spend TIME AND HARD WORK to make $$$. THEN, after you've made money, you can spend that money to hire others to spend TIME making YOU more MONEY.

I'll re-post my tips for finding a good program. Follow these and you'll be sure to find a good one. ONE is all it takes with a little effort, plan to spend a minimum of 20 hours a week for a few months, soon after that you can set things to auto pilot and start the search again. If you only want to make a couple hundred each month, then just spend a few hours a week.

This is basically all i do and have done for just shy of 5 years.

My suggestions are as follows:

1. Research the program in Google, try searches like: Program name +fraud or +scam.

2. Look for forum posts about the program. A good program always has people talking about it and the way it works.

3. Research affiliate review sites. There are tons of sites out there that have user reviews about programs.

4. Spend a little money and do a test order for yourself or find someone close to you that would have interest in the product and place an actual order. This will show you the process, you'll see the emails the customer gets, and you'll be able to see if you are compensated for the sale and what your commission rate is.

5. Speak to someone on the PHONE. Programs that only contact via the web or email are always sketchy. Talk to a real human before sending any traffic their way.

6. Choose programs that offer editable templates. IMO steer away from programs that only have a tracking ID in the URL. Its much more difficult to rank a domain that all the other affiliates have as well. These programs are for PPC and Link/banner referrals, NOT SEO.

7. Do do what nab82ba said, change product descriptions to avoid dup content penalties.

8. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Try a few programs all at once. This way if one goes under (which is unfortunately quite common) you have backups. This will also help you find to most solid programs out there. Once you lose one, get another etc.

9. Look for new programs, but be cautious. New programs have no track record so there's risk involved, but they also often have untapped products or services (its a lot easier to go after a term only a few hundred people are after, than a term like Viagra where there are thousands if not tens of thousands after it).

10. Be original - DO create your own templates in programs that allow it, alter templates offered to all affiliates in a major way. The key to being successful in Affiliate marketing is beating others with the same ammunition provided to all. YOU MUST STAND OUT TO GOOGLE, YAHOO ETC.

Good Luck!

Hi,

Affiliate marketing is a good way of earning money. Just you need to keep the following things in mind :
1. Lots of unique content on your website
2. Fully optimize your site for search engines
3. Check out the merchants decline ratio before joining the program. Because it happens that most of the merchants decline upto 80-90% of your sales & you are left with very little money after a lot of efforts

regards

Vishwalok

Affiliate marketing is a great way for the "newbie" to get started in internet marketing. You don't have to worry about researching markets and developing your own products. Look for reputable affiliate programs that have a support system set up for you. You can usually tell which ones are "affiliate friendly" and take a vested interest in your success. It definately pays to do your research before you jump in. Hope this helps.

Hi,

According to me there are three main aspects to affiliate marketing success: choosing the right programs, implementing successful internet marketing strategies and consistency.

I think this way one would surely succeed in affiliate programs.

Regards

to really make it big in AM you have to have a good grasp of how to sell and how to market. slapping a banner on a page is easy, but turning around and SELLING the product on that banner is the key.

my tip, do a lot of reading. buy some books on sales and copywriting if you really want to get into the biz deep. joe sugarman has a great book on copywriting.
