Dealing with duplicates
Hi all,
This is my first time in this section and my first time dealing with Affilliate managment, so please, i would really need some help here.
We run an affiliate scheme on 6 different networks. We are a hospitality company and hence pay commission on holiday reservations. However, in the reports we run I have come up with the following issue:
A reservation seems to be coming from both Affiliat A in Network X and Affiliate B in Network Y. This can obviously happen if a user clicks on one sites link on Affilat A's site one day then goes to Affiliate B site the next, clicks on the link and buys. The systems which are tracking the cookies obviously are tracking the same person who now posses two cookies.
I have run reports in the networks and they do give me the time and date of the purchase, but no indication of when the cookie was droppped. I must know which Affiliate to give the affiliate to and it seems to me that the only fair way of dealing with this would be to see who dropped the cookie first. How could I find this out or how would I deal with it in a verifiable manner? Anyone have any experience with such a problem?
Any help will be really appreciated.
Thanks
Marcel
