Question CJ or Amazon?

I built my mother a blog for her to write short stories. I am going to put suggested books on the side bars and a "if you like this story" type suggestion at the end of each story in her blog. Does anyone know if Amazon or CJ has a better payout which one do you prefer and why?

I have never been successful with Amazon, but I am wasn't trying to sell books. With CJ, the payout all depends on the advertiser. There is not one payout to everyone, it all depends on who you sign up for, so your really have to look around.

I would suggest looking at ShareaSale.com as well. Easy to sign up and they have a ton of advertisers.

I agree about Adsense...though affiliate marketing has become more profitable for me over time...but no reason you cannot do both!

I'm from the UK and find amazon.co.uk converts much better than amazon.com for some reason.

Amazon affiliate links are easy to setup and their user control panel isn't as complicated as CJs which put me off CJ at first.

Amazon have 2 comission structures one is 4% flat rate the other is performance based depending on how many items you sell.

CJs commission will vary depending on whihc merchant you choose.

For anybody who says you can't make money with CJ or Amazon or that they make more with Adsense, I'd say, "they're doing it all wrong". There is a *definite* trick to manking money with CJ or Amazon and that is to "build your content around the monetization" not the normal way of building content and then trying to monetize it.

I probably shouldn't be giving that secret away but that's how the people who make big money with Amazon and CJ do it. I can make more money digging in my couch for spare change than with Adsense, Bidvertiser or Adbrite.

Jean-Luc agrees: Sites "Made For Amazon" perform very well with Amazon. I regret that there is no possible geographic
targetting though.

It seems like your mother rights short stories as a hobby and not to make money so i guess Adsense would be best instead of trying to right things in conjunction with CJ

Adsense is by far the best in my opinion. The one thing that drives me crazy about Amazon is that people will follow my link, but then purchase a different book. I don't get paid for the different book. Not sure if i'm doing something wrong here.

I have all the books listed that my visitor would buy from my page. They click on one and then buy the other, and I get screwed.

Adsense is so easy. I'm sure if I put more time into building around the Amazon, i'd make more money with it. But for now Amazon is just a resource for my visitors to help them get the most out of my site.

We have a very popular commercial site. On some sub-pages we run Adsense on seldom visited pages and CJ on others;l with a third set running them both.

If you optimize to be an affiliate... CJ on your pages is for you...

If you have pages that are NOT landing pages and are NOT designed to sell your own products/services... AdSense makes good revenue...

Any pages you are selling your own products/services from, DO NOT distract your customers trying to make pennies... DO NOT RUN ADSENSE OR CJ on those...

Bottomline: Focus on selling your product/services first... only use AdSense or CJ affiliate ads if and only if they will not detract from the purpose of your site.

Amazon is better, you can easily set up an affiliate account in amazon and it has buyers worldwide that you can easily promote your books.

Oh my! Is this true? I have related books listed on my moms blog. I figure they will go in and if they don't purchase that book they will pick another and she will still get credit. If thats true I'm pulling amazon. Thats not right at all.
