CJ Cleans House - Some parasites booted!
Adware and Parasites - CJ (Commission Junction) Cleans House?
Just blogged about this yesterday but its good news to know so thought I would post it here. According to a recent article in MarketWatch CJ dropped the infamous 180Solutions earlier this year and is tightening the noose around other parasite and adware type affiliates. Jeff Pullen, EVP says only 5% of revenue at CJ comes from download applications (ie. adware). I think many affiliates and managers would dispute that number. "180Solutions was in violation of our code of conduct," said Pullen. "They were kicked out," earlier this year… An affiliate of 180Solutions, Seismic, was sued by the FTC for unfair and deceptive marketing practices…" Here is the MarketWatch article about it. http://www.marketwatch.com/news/yho...3300A639 CE%7D

Sadly, this was a very reactive move. I know you're a positive person Linda, but when CJ as a whole converts at a rate measurably lower (when compared to indie programs) we have to wonder why -- is it that difficult to find parasites?
When I switch from a CJ affiliate to an indie, I can see the difference within a week...that to me says something about CJ's abilities to either track traffic effectively or honestly oversee the traffic. I prefer working with your indie programs Linda...CJ is an absolute mess.

Hi Cygnus,
Since we dont allow parasites in any of our programs anyway then parasites are not the difference - with our CJ programs at least. I think though that a lot of it is ad blocking programs, firewalls and anti-spyware apps that target links and cookies from the big networks. Glad you are doing well with some of our Indies. We have some more coming for you! :-) |
