Charging for textlinks
I'm kind of new to the whole 'texlink business' but I get a lot of questions from people who'd like to buy a textlink on our site. My question is, what can I ask for them? The intention is to sell side-wide textlinks (with a maximum of, let's say 10 at a time)
Site is some sort of community site with loads of articles, news, forum etc. Frontpage is a PR6 Site has a few hundred other pr6 pages A few thousand pr5 and lower. Google has indexed over 70.000 pages I've seen so many different numbers that I am sort of lost... Thnx! |

These sites can give you an estimate:
http://tools.linkworth.com/price-quote.php http://www.linkvendor.com/seo-tools/linkvalue.html Their educated guesses can be quite different though PS: all I know is that my PR5 homepage is worth 144 ping pong balls a year |

You should look at the ROI it would provide to potential advertisers, both in terms of search ranking boosts, and in terms of actual visitors sent to the site.
Let's say you're in an industry where the CTR on those ads will be 1% - you get 50,000 unique visitors per month, so that's 500 visitors to your advertisers site each month. If the advertiser's conversion rate is 2% (10 sales) and his profit per sale is around $100, charging 20-40% of this ($200-$400 per month) isn't unreasonable. You'd then add in the link boost in the SERPs - possibly valued at between $50-$75/month and you'd get a figure. There's also this tool that can help determine what an advertiser should pay in terms of just link boost in the SERPs - seomoz.org/tools/link-price-tool.php |

Thanks Wit,
A lot of different numbers again, linkworth says something like $200 a month and linkvendor €37,16 :-) Randfish, I really like your approach, a little stupid of me. I started out looking for comparable numbers but never thought of the whole return on investment idea. I'll start working with that, thanks! |
