Cell Phone/PDA Affiliates and Video Games
Anybody have experience working with affiliates in either of these markets? I looking at Gamefly for American affiliate with video games but can't seem to narrow it down for the rest. Your thoughts?

I know this is a dumb dumb question but, I was under the impression becoming an affiliate can be done without cost. I mean the company gives you commission and they get the sale. Do some affiliate companies or 'gobetweens' charge for their services (tracking, stats, etc.) and for the use of banners, text links, etc.?

In the past, I've been an affiliate promoting video game products as well as cell phone ringtones. Try going the Amazon affiliate route promoting their video games, as for ringtones, I've had moderate success (mainly due to the competitiveness nature and the low payout rates).

You are correct, I'd say 99.9% of all affiliates have no upfront join costs. |

Ok another stupid question. Typically how do sites track people coming from affiliate websites? I clicked my affiliate add from a remote located to see if there were any identifying extensions to the link, but there were none. Do these guys track IP's?
2nd. What type of payout does Amazon have compared to the competition? 3rd. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you CANNOT put amazon stuff on one page and the gamefly on another? What about adsense and amazon? (For example). THanks for the input. Last edited by djstreet : January 11th, 2005 at 01:31 PM. |

Usually, affiliate programs place cookies to track your affiliate ID.
Amazon has "meager" payouts compared to others (then again, it depends on what you're promoting)-- However, with Amazon comes good ROI since they are a reputable and recognized seller of any and all products. As far as I know, you should be able to promote different affiliates on a single website. I know for Adsense, you are allowed to promote it with Amazon, just don't have it next to each other. |
