Can you create a book store using eBay affiliate program?

Can you create a book store using eBay affiliate program? I presume that eBay auctions many used books, and given the volume, can you create a book store like Amazon?

It might be possible, but think of the trouble that you'll go to with all the database stuff. Amazon has it all layed out for you, but well eBay's just a mess really isn't it. More importantly than this though, used books on eBay sell for peanuts, you're not making much money with that, unless I'm misunderstanding the question.

Can you elaborate on this? Why do you call eBay "mess"?

I was a bit confused, because the poster before you said that eBay gets messy. I thought the link explains why eBay gets messy. Now I understand what you're saying.

Compaired to Amazon, ebays a BIG mess. With Amazon, put up a script, and you got over 1,500,000 products on your site ready for visitors to look through and order.

With ebay, just to get real-time price and product information, you have to pay $250.

With every thing else you have to actually spend years filling out the forms entering stuff like search terms to put stuff up on your site.

Ebay stinks, Amazon rocks.

Is this sign up fee or price to get a copy of script to build your store?

I do like the idea you have and have been thinking about it myself.

Not for books but i want to scrape off ebay and add my affiliate links.
Is the $250 worth it?
How long will it take to get an roi?

Once you have the website up and running, there are number of ways to generate revenue. You don't have to just look at bids made on items listed in your eBay affiliate website. All should be included in order to calculate ROI. Wouldn't you agree? Also ...

q1. How long is the license valid?

q2. Can you set up, let's say, 10 websites using only one license?

q3. Can you set up just the website without acquiring $250 license? For example, you can set up Amazon website without becoming an associate. Can you do something like that in eBay affiliate program?

Work with me here:

There are billions of products on ebay.
You have a site called `widgets.com`
You set it to take the entire ebay page but at the side or the bottom the programme you use or manual programing for starters adds your google ads to the page and affiliate link to every product.

I am sure ebay wouldnt mind that.
I know if i had a site selling things i would be pleased if someone did that.
We need to know more about this licence and how to update it automatically from ebay.

Are you basically suggesting to create one of those mega sites using eBay affiliate program?
