Can someone please help

with some very basic information. I found this site while attempting to learn more about SEO and there seems to be some very good information here - Im just now beginning to touch the surface after several weeks of research. Anyway, what I would like to know is, how many of you currently make a - selfemployed - living utilizing the sell of products through your own website, or even with an adsense type program. In my head this is very doable - easy, NO, doable, definitely.

As you will see, I am very green at this type of thing, so I apologize if I ask the wrong questions or step on any toes. But this site just happens to be one with what seems to be, real people, who don't have there hand stuck out - to me anyway - wanting money for this marketing program or that get-rich-quick scheme.

If you are so inclined here are a couple more questions.

1. I know this can vary greatly, but - what would be a reasonable income upon utilizing all three facets of internet marketing - website sells, adsense and adwords - I may have missed a few.

2. Do you enjoy this type of work, and do you realistically see a future of 10, 20, 30 or more years here?

3. Other than this site can you suggest a good quality, more direct approach, source of information for learning SEO?

4. Anything I may have missed?

Thanks so much for anyone willing to take the time to answer just a couple of questions.

1. Reasonable income? $0.01 or more. It really depends on how much you give to it. Affiliate and ad programs are not an easy thing to do. The only easy way to make money with these things is if you have a popular website that drives a lot of traffic already. Slap on some adsense, and you're making money. The tough part is getting to that point. SEO is more about knowing the rules and applying them to something that you love. I believe that if you care enough about a subject, and are honest with people, you'll be a success in your niche.

Income doesn't come over night, so don't quit your day job till you've created something that people want. In fact, I still wouldn't put all of my eggs in that basket. If you're able to build a site with large quality traffic, you should be able to sell your own products. Then use adsense on other websites, or other areas of your site.

2. Greatly. I'm no millionaire, but again, I love my subject, and it gives me pleasure to share my point of view with others. The future? That's a tough one. Definitely a future in advertising online. Where Online is going? I'm not sure I'm ready to get into that for 5 years, let alone 30. Start a new topic, or do more research in the forum.

3. This site is really good. People are willing to share here. There are a million places on the web. Keep reading and trusting those that can prove their success.

Hi Todd,

1. Can't say, depends on what you do, commissions and how much work you put in. I know people who make $500 a day and some make $50 a month. It depends on a lot of factors.

2. I love this work!! But it's not for everyone, takes dedication and hard work. The Internet is not what it used to be, the competition is fierce but if you really want it and want to get rid of that day job it is very possible! And the future possibilities are endless, there are millions of people who are joining the internet world everyday across the world so the opportunities will always be there.

3. There are several great sites to learn SEO, from known SEO experts: seobook.com, seomoz.com, 5staraffiliateprograms.com--their Forum, courtneytuttle.com. Those are the best! Especially Courtney Tuttle's Site, always helpful step-by-step posts on the how-to's of Internet Marketing and SEO.

Good Luck!
