Calls to Action
I'd be curious to hear what some of your best calls to action have been on your sites. You don't have to give away your secret sauce, but what types of things work for you:
referral/commentary articles
graphical buttons
placement on the page
etc.
What is working for you to entice users to take action or lead them deeper into your sites. Do you have certain processes for determining click paths?

Ha! That is good. Somewhat paradoxically, I have a couple of sites that rank #1 for "free widget," except for the fact that "widget" gets about 100x more traffic than "free widget." I should've gone for the beer!

I read somewhere recently that the call to action phrase of "Free Shipping" was the all time winner in converting shoppers. It makes sense, I know a lot of people who will not buy something online because of the shipping prices. They'd rather wait and find it locally.
