There are many of them and many of them are good.

What direction are you interested in?

web design and development / pharmacy / gambling / financial services... etc

I'd be interested in getting started with an affiliate site to make a bit of money on the side but no gambling, porn or pharmacy. What is the best way to get started?

Thanks,
Kierslee

Template Monster has good affiliate program with high conversion (http://www.templatemonster.com/register_aff.php)

Also try out cj.com -- they have numerous affiliate programs with different products.

BTW

I think gambling is a big waste of money, although I visit my brother in Las Vegas regularly (he's worked backstage for Sigfiied & Roy, O at the Bellagio, and now the show at Wynn).
As for Pharmacy, I may be wrong because I haven't looked into the affiliate marketing in that area but most spam emails I get are for pharmacy stuff like viagra and what not. I'm just turned off to those things.

Thanks for the info.

ADSENSE (if you count it as an affiliate program) ... definitely the best one

All of the good affiliate programmes will penalise any member who uses spam as a marketing technique. Please don't confuse spam with genuine AM marketing through relevant, content rich sites and targeted opt-in mailings.

Pharmacy can bring lots of money, so many people don't want to wait doing SEO or running ad campaigns, so they use spam methods (SE spam is also typical for this field)

Dear All,

I'm already running an affiliate pharmacy website, what i liked about it is that the website was ready to go, i only had to get:

1- site domain name (rx123online dot com)
2- an hosting company to host the site
3- upload the affiliate template
4- work on the advertisement of the website
5- Waiting for the money to come to my account

It brings money, I could not complain but is there any other interesting affiliate company that have their website prebuild so you only have to work on the optimization of the website like the one i describe before, but other then pharmacy because I'll like to try something else. (is gambling website worth it? but note that i'm looking for any other affiliate website prebuild that could bring reasonable money).

Lakaypam

And 2 lines down in your sig is a link to chitika mini mall labeled "Better than Adsense".

I think a big part of choosing a program is figuring out what kind of content you want to produce - travel affiliates are good for travel writers, amazon is good for product reviewers and book logs (the original blogs), adsense is generally pretty decent....

toddieg agrees: Touche- i labeled it like that to get more interest.. it is a pretty darn good program though.
(espcially since it's now multi-level affiliate marketing)

I have had really good success with CJ lately- they have a broad enough advertiser base so that you should be able to put up 203 options for one niche.

Linkshare was a good affiliate network until some time ago when they decided they should start screwing up everything from delaying payments to affiliates and so on. Thought, I wish they'll become the best affiliate network again.

You can go to my site compare-affiliate-programs.com. Once there go to the top ten page. Those are the programs that have always been good to me. Most are mainstream programs.

Expressweb,

I LOVE your icon!

The BEST affiliate program can best be defined by you. It needs to fit your site and your visitor interests.

By best if you mean high commission, honest programs that are guaranteed to pay - well I represent over 50 of the "best" programs. They need to qualify to be "5 Star" programs. Have a look at my directory and see if any are a good fit.

Then let me know if I can help.
