Try that three times with peanut butter in your mouth. <insert wink rolleyes>
I found it on an adsense ad. Only downside is they pay thru paypal. I have only heard negative things about paypal, probably tinfoil hat conspiracy theories but still I have some doubt. Never used it. Anybody ever been paid by pay pal? Last edited by fathom : April 30th, 2005 at 11:54 AM. Reason: link not needed. |

Paypal is fine for paying others. It works well for being paid by others if they agree to that method in advance.
I have taken thousands of payments through them for sales on ebay and a couple of my websites. On ebay, paypal is the most common payment method. On a couple websites I have paypal shopping carts. The price is right - free excpet for a transaction fee of .30 plus about 2 - 3% depending upon your volume. You don't need a gateway and you don't need a merchant account. Anyone can pay you through those shopping carts using Paypal or a number of credit cards. As of last summer customers don't have to be or become a paypal member to pay you with a credit card. IMO the conversion rate is a little lower than you would get will a fully integrated shopping cart / credit card solution. (You cant offer multiple shipping options and a few people will see Paypal and think that they must join). It works fine for low volume sites or new sites while you are waiting to get them up in the rankings.

Paypal has worked well for me for about 3 years now. I don't have to wait for them to "pay me". When the money is in there from an order, I can take my Paypal atm card and go to any atm and withdraw my money right then and there if I want - or I can just transfer it to my bank account.

Seems good, but has anybody tried them already ? Any testimonials around from past users who have received anything in commissions ?

Paypal have many interesting minuses.
Here the some more info about ebay:
http://aliksand.blogspot.com Well, I use paypal for 2,5 years, and Yes they convinient. But during my temp. suspension from ebay I was for few weeks unable to add any money to my account at paypal. They may: cancel your transfer to your bank account, even after few days of transfer. may reverse your payments to others, after even few weeks of payments processed. In other words, they do not hold their srvices, at some point. Simply, puting themselfs on the side. |

If you do use paypal to recieve payments, I highly recommend that you get a separate account to send payments. Why? I contested a payment I made once because the seller defaulted and Paypal was dragging it's heels on givving me my money back (as well as the seller). I got my money back but Paypal canceled my account.
I'll always have a bad taste in my mouth with Paypal about that. G-Man

Geoffrey,
That's not the first time I've heard of Paypal cancelling accounts after contested payments...I'm not entirely sure, but I think that practice is very much frowned upon by the federal government. Good tip on keeping the accounts separate though... Cygnus

PP is not regulated by the Federal government because they are not licenced like most banks, and they have no plans on doing so because they can and do take peoples money and run!

Funny that the original post claims not to be an affiliate, yet includes an unnecessary "aff_id=" parameter. The url works just fine without it:

I had a look and i dont think i like it.
One thing i did notice on that page is a javascript link that you can drag and drop onto the blogger button on your toolbar. Could be a good source of links. Or if someone knows a way to autoexecute that java link then it could be an even better source of links. |

Well, not exactly...they are still regulated. Any company that stores a certain amount of money and charges/pays a percentage "interest" needs a lending license, and that lending license can be revoked. Most lending institutions incorporate out of South Dakota or Delaware, where the rules are the most lax, but still...if there are enough problems, the banking commissions will halt licensing. Sorry for hijacking the thread -- I'd pass on that particular affiliate offer; there seems to be better alternatives. |

Welp...I'll give my two cents. I have a nasty taste in my mouth with Paypal. I still have a negative balance. Had two people dispute after paying for products, I have proof they received the products and paypal still gave them the money back after providing proof of delivery to paypal via certified mail to all parties. I have yet to receive a reponse back from anyone, including buyers, after 8 weeks other than a threat from paypal to pay the negative balance. Yeah..they can KMA.
I have decided I will be filing suit in small claims court here in florida and see how things go. Only 80 bucks, but again, the principle is I shipped the merchandise, the buyers got their goods, then got my money, never responded to my e-mails and letters (I insured all shipments even though the buyers didn't pay for it) and paypal allowed it and froze my account meaning I can't accept any other payments costing me additional money in lost sales among other things. Total B.S. where I'm concerned as a merchant and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I expect the buyers think "I'll just go away". Ha! All it takes is one and you're shut down or out of the money contested and only left with legal recourse against the buyers because you can't sue paypal based upon their terms of use you agree to when setting up the account. You're much better off paying 20 bucks a month for a true merchant account and not having to worry about a 3rd party screwing you.
