I used to make nice money from amazon. Now.... hmmm... IMO there are so many ebate, code swapper and other programs running (and enjoyed or permitted by amazon) that the typical webmaster will not make much money. I make an awful lot more from the same pixel count from adsense these days. the chit mini malls might produce better too if you want specific product recommends.

It is still possible to make money on Amzon.fr, Amazon.de & Amazon.jp using PPC, but the margins are tight.

Yes, the Amazon program was one of the first on the internet, but now it seems people are gravitating more toward the niche players.

I still think of all the 'bigger' malls out there Amazon leads the pack simply because of volume. Also, you have to consider the name brand, people see, think legit, buy product. Prices, shipping etc., handled by them. 5% is pretty low mind you, but still higher than places like tigerdirect.
